As a photographer I'm usually not involved into the Traditional Art community, but this piece really caught my eye and I would like to express why : please forgive my complete lack of competence for the technical feedbacks!
I think the strength of this artwork comes mainly from its composition, which have been amazingly well created. The diagonal lines followed by the swirling clouds opposed the the rather neat and vertical lines of the balloons ropes create a movement and dynamism that highlight the situation of the dragon. The chosen point of view, from above but with a wide angle, insist on the renunciation and despair impression given by the attitude of the little guy.
The richness of the colors on the clouds enhance the loneliness of the plain dragon and balloons. The subtle yellow reflection on the clouds moreover makes an interesting reminder of the yellow coat of the dragon, both of them being ideally placed in the dynamic points of the frame.
Associated with a beautiful story, I think this painting expresses moving feelings far better than any word could. Let's hope Aneirin will manage to get off the hook!
