I think in this juncture in history, it has become obvious that the penitentiary-based criminal corrective system is a failed experiment. For centuries it has hovered somewhere between punitive, rehabilitative, and prohibitive philosophies. Mired in the mix of these competing philosophies, the modern penitentiary serves little purpose other than to be a breeding ground for hardened criminals. While there are some rays of light in this dark system, and some individuals do ascend into higher education, and some even reach a level of personal reform, the savage culture that exists within the concrete walls thoroughly converts many to its nihilis

As I have been thinking of this subject for a while, I think I shall give it my official 2 cents. Whether people liked Abrams-Trek or not, it was a huge financial success, and it is here to stay. So that had me thinking, what can they do to add some more depth to the films? Or, perhaps a better question, what elements from established Trek would work the best in the next 2 films? The Golden Queen was one of those books that had all the makings of a wonderful story, but just didn't have the publicity to rise very high in the ranks of Science Fiction masterpieces.
