Now in his mid-thirties and extremely bitter, Emile never did much in the way of cultivating friends. He spent so much time outwitting and generally embarrassing his competition that he failed to recognize that hed be too old to work alone someday and would be forced to hire some help. Being a complete prick, Emile does all he can pretend that this is not the case, but deep down he knows that, save for Paolo (whos a bit on the insufferably annoying side himself), practically everyone and their mom would love to see him in handcuffs, or better yet, a body bag.
Catalina Rebenque- Born into a well-regarded Argentine family, Catalina was groomed from a young age to become a great dressage champion. By the time she reached her early twenties, she was one of the top competitive riders in the both the South American and European circuits. Attracted to anything involving great danger and high speed, she took some of her winnings and invested in a small kit car, which she assembled (and later modified) after briefly skimming the attached instructions. Eventually her collection of automobiles expanded, and her interest in driving grew to the point that it rivaled her love for riding. After rescuing a young man floundering in the mud under a bridge (he seemed innocent enough) one fateful night, she began her career as a professional get-away driver.
When he was much younger, Emile hired Catalina with some frequency. She met his requirements of fast, precise, and with little regard for the well-being of other motorists, as well as being well, charming. Now shes in her late forties with kids of her own, and a hip injury sustained from a bad fall off a horse. No longer capable or willing to play cops and robbers with him, Catalina has very politely explained to Emile that she will shoot him dead if she ever finds him sneaking around her property again. The doorbell is there for a reason. Its what civilized people use.
Gwen- A practical thief, Gwen is cautious and precise with seemingly endless amounts of patience. Although she behaves in every respect like a seasoned professional, she appeared in the underground art scene very suddenly. No one knows who she is or where she came from, only that shes a thief of the highest caliber, attracting only the wealthiest, well-connected art collectors. Gwen has worked for everyone from jealous museum curators to members of the mob, which is positively infuriating to freelancers like Paolo and Emile, who barely scrape by when their plans go awry.
Although very little is known about Gwen, a few of her qualities tend to stand out: For one thing, she has a heavy Slavic accent, though its a bit too muddled to use for identification purposes. The eccentric clothing is probably just poor taste in action. She moves very fluidly, almost as if she was floating under that dress. Oddly enough, under all of those bandages and heavy layers of clothing, she looks rather like a certain prima ballerina who disappeared a few years ago
Oooh, I love Catalina's design, both artistic and story-wise. She looks like a savy dare-devil type. And the type to kick poor Emile through a third story window.
Poor Emile, he was never terribly youthful looking in the first place...
She looks like she escaped from the set of bright young things. I love it!
As always, your back stories take your pieces from mere art to something even more incredible. thankyou for sharing this deranged little world with us.
