Title: The Puzzle. Graphite Pencil on Bristol smooth paper. 2H, B, 2B, 6B, 21 ins x 16 ins. Around 50 hours, mainly drafting the cogs and the puzzle. WIP photos can be found on the facebook art page below. I'm also running a limited edition print contest, simply like my page to be eligible.
So great and impressive !
Outstanding design and execution! Though it may not be what was meant by the artist, I see in it the symbolism of someone anguished in trying to figure out who they really are, how they will make a way in freedom, or both. In any event, a provocative object d' arte. Cheers!
Mind-blowing artwork. You have some serious pencil skills!

Spread Some DA Love, No. 66
Welcome to the latest installment of my "favorite faves" -- the best, in my opinion, of works I faved recently. Some of these pieces you have no doubt seen; others you may be viewing for the first time. If you come across something you like please let the artist know -- give them some DA love in the form of faves and comments; also take a look at their galleries -- you might like their work so much you'll want to watch them!
Remember, everyone could use a little more DA love!
(Many of the works shown here are included in the galleries of two groups I founded. Visit Ugly-Mug-Portraits ugly-mug-portraits.deviantart.… and Surreal-Landscapes surreal-landscapes.deviantart.… to view even more incredible art created by very talented DA artists in need of your support!)
This is super-awesome! Somehow it reminds me of fractal :3
I love the fact that you are adding imagination to technique...
The puzzle pieces make for an amazing background element in this one. The figure at the top has such an interesting pose that fits the piece beautifully. I also love how you have her chained to the puzzle.
Cheers I really does make so much of a difference when your hearing thoughts from other artists completeing their own original compositions
Astonishing! Really great piece!
I love the puzzle pieces, they're a really nifty element in this piece. I think they help add depth while also bringing another layer or meaning into the piece and that's wonderful. Great work
Ok... I'm puzzled... very very very clean concept/balance/composition!
Wow this is very well done and structured! I love the interlocking clogs as well as the corresponding puzzle. The girl at the top who is doing the splits also fits in quite well with the overall picture as she also represents some weighing scales, another example of a basic utensil of measure. I's anatomy and the way this has all been technically and neat.
Thank you for that comment. Its exactly what I was going for in reference to the position of the girl acting as a balace to tie in with the cog mechanics. Much appreciated
This's so geometric & perefct
intriguing ideas you have!
It does seem that way on occasion Thank you. To much time on my hands maybe.
This is a really interesting, thought provoking drawing. I love the shade gradation and the very strange combination of elements.
a fantastic job!!!
