Veritas: Umbra form art by
Above: Veritas Umbra in Base Mode::Art by
A merging of various forms of magitek and ether manipulation; including the blades/aegises from Xenoblade (and 2), she is a blade who's made deals with infernal beings in a similair vein to the Umbra Witches (from Bayonetta).
When Ontos, Logos and Pneuma were being created by the Architect/God of Creation, another (named Edward Orson) made use of this magitek to create a blade/monado of his own, this weapon would be named Veritas. Veritas Umbra is the dark side of this magitek. She and Edward (her driver) can harness infernal powers and summon infernal demons for thier own uses.
Using the Darkness and the Angelus and the other of the 13 artifacts, a 14th artifact was forged called the ViceGrip. The ViceGrip is a prison for personifications of the 7 sins that any wielder can use, provided they use it with caution. This artifact wound up in Veritas Umbra's possession and grants her the ability to consume beings with souls and draw the vices from them to power her various transformations. There is a drawback to using the ViceGrip that even Umbra cannot resist, the urg to commit any sin related to the abilities the artifact's user is drawing from.
From Left to Right: Veritas Umbra's Gluttony, Sloth and Lust modes:: Art by
Gluttony Mode grants enhanced senses of taste and smell along with the ability for VU to consume literally any matter and add it to the ViceGrip's body or Umbra's corpeal form. When the artifact fully envelops her mouth and jaw it transforms it into a maw which can open wide like a snake. This form gives VU the impulse to consume literally anything in sight in order of potential tastiness that Ed Orson needs to reign in.
Sloth Mode grants nigh-unlimited physical strength and the ability to move generally around the speed of sound, but comes with a psychological 'weight' that becomes increasingly hard to resist over time.
Lust mode grants the ability for one to shroud their fingers with blades sharper than obsidian, along with an addiction to fleeting pleasures.
