Redd Foxx

John Elroy Sanford (December 9, 1922 – October 11, 1991), better known by his screen name Redd Foxx, was an American comedian and actor, best remembered for his explicit comedy records and his starring role on the 1970s sitcom Sanford and Son.

Foxx gained notoriety with his raunchy nightclub acts during the 1950s and 1960s. Known as the "King of the Party Records", he performed on more than 50 records in his lifetime. He also starred in Sanford, The Redd Foxx Show and The Royal Family. His film roles included All the Fine Young Cannibals (1960) and Harlem Nights (1989).

In 2004, Comedy Central Presents: 100 Greatest Stand-ups of All Time ranked Foxx as the 24th best stand-up comedian. Foxx not only influenced many comedians, but was often portrayed in popular culture as well, mainly as a result of his famous catchphrases, body language and facial expressions exhibited on Sanford and Son.

"She Drives Me Crazy" was performed by some pop group of the 80s which they took the name from a 1960s movie. Should you guess what they are?

I was a lil brat kid when i first seen him on Sandford n son.. and the part that always got me was his interaction with "Aunt Ester" and when he was doing the fake heart attack... for a kid growing up that was some seriously funny stuff and they dont make them like that anymore.
BTW this is a spot on rendition not just of Red Foxx the man but Red Foxx the comedian

Yep... Aunt Esther was great too!

I often wondered what the blooper real looked like when those two went at it.. That had to have been some serious funny screwups.

Im sure they had some doosies....  I cant see Redd Foxx making it through any takes without saying something outrageously funny...only they couldn't air it on PrimeTime TV

Imagine what that show could/would have been on HBO... i KNOW Red swore. i have heard him and to "keep it clean' for TV must have been a chore.. I rank him at least in the top 10 of all time.. he seemed sorta like what was said about Robin Williams on Mork n Mindy... ignoring Robin while watching 9 a HUGE chore mind you) and watching Pam Dawber n you can tell they all are on the verge of busting a gut openly.. Red I know was the same way ( and he had that "old man" attitude to boot!)

Thanks, Mike!  Yes, I was happy with the way this one turned out.  You never know what the end result will be when it is finished.  Ive been experimenting with using a paint brush with doing some of the shading and love the smooth results.  I think I will continue with it as long as the look is this good.
