twilight forest -again- by GreenSprite twilight forest -again- by GreenSprite
Omg so. Paper is the single most important thing in a watercolor. It's my first time working on 300g paper and it makes such a huge difference. I'm still not doing it completely right, but it allows for a greater variety of useful techniques than my usual Canson paper. I'll have to thank *Lumysaara again for the art boost :)

The reference/inspiration is here. Funny how it looks almost nothing like it :p

Watercolor and inks.

Great work, I think yellow and blues complement each other beautifully. Good subject too, the dark narly forest. Only one small point of criticism- the tree on the far left bugs me ,it draws your attention(" hi, HELLO, over here look at me!"). Over all it is nicely done.

That's funny, that tree never bothered me before, but now that you mention it it just started to grab my attention :D Can't do anything about it now, unfortunately, but thanks for letting me know :)

Yes, that was the whole point of this! Watercolors and landscapes go great together. They almost paint themselves

I love the burning sunsetty colours - my favourite, for some reason. I just love pictures of skylines :D

The scanner does make it look a bit brighter than the original (either that or my laptop's monitor is out to get me). I still like it though

I shall overlook your lusty attitude only because you gave me the original (yeah, need to brag ).

I really like how the colors blend in this. Watercolors can be a great media if used right and I think you've got a good handle on it. I'm no expert at them myself so I can't give any advice/critiques.

The splotches and pointy branches of the trees really give this an eerie look- nothing like the picture but it's still nice. The painterly effect really adds to image in my opinion. I think if you tried to stay accurate or nit-picky with it, the painting would feel too tight and boring.

Thank you! I'm still learning watercolor myself (I've been learning for like.. 10 years lol). This is exactly what I like about watercolors: they make it very easy to give a surreal, weird touch to even the most realistic scene. I hope I'll get better at it in time :)
