Notes:
The first dinosaur discovered in America, in 1818. Discovered many decades before "dinosaur" was even a word, they were first thought they were of human origin. It took many years before the bones were recognized as reptilian, but it was not included in Owen's original definition of Dinosauria.

This one needs comments. I always find Prosauropods and basal Sauropodomorpha very fascinating (well all early dinosaurs in general).
