CHARONOSAURUS JIAYINENSIS
"Jiayin Village Charon's Lizard"
Godefroit, Zan & Jin, 2000
Length: 13m (42.5ft)
Weight: 5 tonnes (5.5 tons)
Location: Heilongjiang, China
Era: Maastrichtian age, upper Cretaceous (65 million years ago)

Classification:
Dinosauria
Ornithischia
Cerapoda
Ornithopoda
Iguanodontia
Dryomorpha
Ankylopollexia
Styracosterna
Hadrosauriformes
Hadrosauroidea
Hadrosauridae
Lambeosaurinae

Notes:
Charonosaurus being so closely related to Parasaurolophus but having lived at a later time and on a completely different continent helps detail an interesting dichotomy between the fauna of Maastrichtian Asia and North America--while lambeosaurine (crested) hadrosaurs had mostly disappeared from North America during this point, they continued to flourish in Asia all the way up until the end of the Cretaceous.

UPDATE FEB 26, 2013:
As it was discovered after I had more or less finished the project that Hadrosaurids could not pronate their hands, I have gone back and edited Charonosaurus to show this. I also edited the backline ridge to make it look more in line with how I illustrate them in my later Hadrosaurids. Go here ([link]) for the original.
