:icontrixieafraidplz: :iconsays3plz:Help Trixie out! This table is plot-essential and it's making it really heavy!:iconsays3eplz:
:iconstarlightsnobbishplz: :iconsays3plz:Well, I'll go get the jaws of life. Can't teleport because reasons. Don't go anywhere... *snrk*
:iconsays3eplz:

Happy new season, folks! Any expectations? Hopes? Dreams? I've kind of adopted a policy not to prepare any of those beforehand.

I suppose Trixie is lucky to have changed at least a little bit. Else she'd have a tonne of trouble on her head (ohohoho, comedy gold right there). Consider the possible teleporting mishaps when you think of a very wrong place for just a brief moment. Buckin' teleportation, how does it work? Right?

I mean, this joke could've turned very dark very quickly... I used to play this dungeon-crawler RPG. It was called Mordor: Depths of Dejenol in its original iteration and Demise: Rise of the Ku'tan in its 3D remake. If all the characters in your party died exploring the dungeon, you would have to either recover them with a different party or wait for an AI rescue team to instantly get them with additional penalties applying. But if you dun goofed and got your party killed by teleporting them into solid rock with a spell, hoo boy, were you ever screeeewed. The AI adventurers would only happily report finding on arrival a pair of feet sticking out of a wall, so you needed to get there yourself with a really, really rare item in tow.

Freakier still is the theory that for actual teleportation to work, it would take a process of destroying the original subject and having them reconstructed molecule by molecule in a different location. This would be like constantly dying and being resurrected. How would preserving someone's conscious find its place in this system? Would that be a different person with every instance? Could we tell? I'd rather not think.

i read somewhere that someone discovered a way for teleportation to actually work, BUT it would require truly absurd anounts of energy..."to teleport a one pound object one mile with this method would require more energy than 50 H-bombs gong off at once!"

There's a book called "The Physics of Star Trek", which goes into an in-depth analysis of the improbability of the Star Trek transporter working as shown on-screen. It's on the older side (1995), but still fairly relevant considering the reboot didn't change much about how most of the book works.

When doing your first teleport spell, it is highly recommended setting no_clip to 1.  :)

Sameness is an illusion caused by a limited ability to perceive the world and by continuity of consciousness over periods of hours. Breathe in, and breathe out; the person who previously existed is dead, and has been replaced by another person with similar memories and personality and many of the same atoms. Take a nap, and wake up; there is now a new person that believes out of instinct that it is the same person who went to sleep and that it actually accurately remembers the time before the discontinuity in its experiences.

Teleportation kills, but not any more than anything else you might do.

that reminds me of a quote in on old book: "premonitions are things that really happened in an alternate reality."
i think that was in "Orn" by Piers Anthony...or the sequel, "0x". (zero-x)

I love Starlight's face in the first panel. Your work is always so expressive.

Telling Trixie to stop thinking about herself? Good luck with that one.

This does make me think that, when Trixie was about to attempt teleportation, and you could see Spike standing waaaay in the background, that the table was going to teleport over him and land on top of him...so much so I was a little surprised when that didn't happen. :P I'd say it was a missed opportunity there, but oh well.

Fortunately, the spike abuse is lowering.

:iconmlptrixieplz: "No. Trixie refuses when she finds it unfair how the Princess managed to learn teleportation in the first place. :iconverynotimpressedplz:"
:icontwilightsparkleplz: "Your loss then. Just don't come crying to me if you end up merged with a bunch of knick-knacks later..."

I see that scenario happening, good job. :XD:

Your take on Trixie reminds me of Daffy from The Looney Tunes Show in that Daffy acted like george Constanza from Seinfeld.

Spike: "Sure, hey Trixie bend over will you?"

Trixie:  Why not?  The Flattened and Pancake Trixie isn't going anywhere.
