It has been quite a while since I last posted a journal. That being said, this journal is an important one for those who follow me.
For a while now, I'd been sitting on a comic page I'd done for a collaboration comic with MadMonkeyDane
called All Against Ace!
, which would have been a reboot of our first collaborative comic of the same name. However, with Dane's implication with the Myriad project (which you should go check out), it made it so the collab couldn't really work out.
That being said, I decided to turn lemons into lemonade and use the page I'd drawn for that project into a reboot of my Glenmetropolis comic! My first attempt at creating a continuous storyline for the characters and narrative universe I've been creating for nearly 10 years now has been... shoddy at best. There were loads of technical problems plaguing the very construction of the pages, I had very little direction for the story, and with my personal life not being optimal, I ended up abandoning the project. But now, I've found ways around the technical problems and I feel motivated as ever to get into this story head-on!
For those of you who might not know, Glenmetropolis is the name of the city wherein the action takes place. It is known as the "City Of A Million Heroes", as countless superheroes (and supervillains) converge there to live, work, do battle, and as such, a lot of crazy events ensue! It is meant to have a mostly humorous tone, so if you're expecting Alan Moore-esque grime and gloom, this isn't the comic for you. It is also worth mentioning that I am aware of my artistic shortcomings (especially when it comes to creating backgrounds and perspectives). This comic is meant to be substance over form, meaning, I might cut some corners on the technical knowhow side so as to make sure I don't stall for weeks on a single panel and instead move the story along at a decent enough pace. That being said, I don't know what kinds of intervals you should expect between pages, as it does take me a while to put them together. For example, the second page (which contains six panels) was done over four days.
At any rate, if you're interested, here are the pages (so far) for Chapter One: Death On New Legs (Dedicated, Too!):
Now, what this means for the future of this gallery is that my main focus will shift towards making those pages. There will be one-off images like I usually do, but they will likely be a bit less frequent. It also means my time/availability for other engagements might be diminished as a result. This is a direction I've been meaning to take for a while, and I now have all the tools at my disposal to actually go and do something about it.
So there you have it. This is a very exciting project for me, and I can't wait to continue what I've started here.
As always, if you have any questions, comments or the such, let me know!
