Pencils - Marc Silvestri

Inked with Kuretake Brush Pen No. 8
I'm a part of a group of inkers on facebook and one of the more seasoned guys there said, " If you want to show your mettle as an inker you have to ink some one else besides Joe Mad. Well, Since I've only tried two Joe Mad pages and they were ages ago, I didn't take it as being directed at me. But, it did get me thinking. I really wanted to test my mettle as an inker and some of the most amazing stuff I've seen lately is the new Silvestri work. The man has taken his art to a whole new level and once I got my hands on some of the new pencil work, I had to see if I was up to snuff.
Starting out, all I did was look at the damn blue lines on the page and wonder how the hell am I going to do this. I purposely picked a page I had seen inked yet so I would not subconsciously ape what he already did. This also prevented me from having any idea of what to do. So I had imagine it was just another page in the book I am working on and it is under deadline. So I have roughly 9 hours to complete the sucker. No time to think about it. Just dive in and do. So that's what I did. I must say I had more fun on the cape, tree and Wayne Manor than anything else on the page. Wayne Manor is where I really found my groove on the page and after competing that, the rest just kind of fell into place.
Hope you enjoy my take on one of what I consider a master of the medium and as always, thanks fer lookin.
