Chapter 4: My First Taste of Freedom

I was still hiding behind the tree so I could make my move and leave to a different spot. It was already 4:30 in the morning, when I woke up around 3 sharp. I was behind a huge oak tree, that the trunk was so wide, I could just walk behind it and the cameras wouldn't get me. Being cautious and careful like the cat I am, I took a peek and saw the cameras turning off, since there was no trouble going on and I was still in my room, so I used that to my advantage. Thank God, they turned off every 10 minutes before turning on again. I got out of the tree, grabbed my stuff and ran as fast as my legs could carry; "It was a good thing I decided to do training to be a bodyguard for someone, even though that was a lie when I told my parents" I thought to myself, proudly. Eventually I made it to the gate, opened it (luckily it was unlocked) and ran all the way out of the castle and into the village. If I can't live in the mansion anymore, I would live in the village better. Everyone was waking up, getting ready for the day.
While walking, I saw people getting their shops opening, their produce and anything else they might need, kids playing around in the morning, shepherds walking the sheep through the town, so they can make it to the pasture and eat the grass. I wasn't entirely awake, but was alert enough that I heard the sweet sounds of my people talking and music in the air. Walking around the village and marketplace, I saw things I never saw before, like how they make bread and shoes, or whatever job is their profession. Not realizing where I had gone, I went to the baker's shop and asked if I can have something to eat. I remember that the baker's name was Allistar and was a kind man. He was plump and fat, like Santa Claus, but not too big. He was 5'9, dirty blond hair and bright emerald green eyes that look like the color of leaves in the spring or contacts that doesn't seem real, even when he tells you that they are real, heart shaped face, rosy dimples that make him look like he was a doll from when I was 3 years old and a kindness that just warms my heart. He gave me a variety of breads and pastries to pick from and seeing as I never done this before, I picked 6 cinnamon buns to choose from all of the breads he showed me and walked out with my very first comfortable, sweet and tasty breakfast. I sat in somewhere while I ate my food. I got up and started to just wander around; I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings and accidentally bumped into someone.
"Oh! I'm so sorry! I'm such a klutz" I explained to the person. "No, it's ok. It was my own fault, since I wasn't watching where I was going." He said rationally and coolly. I looked at who I bumped into and saw while he did the same thing. He had short, dark brown hair, almost black if you stand in the shade or at night. He was extremely good-looking with his heart shaped face, rosy cheeks and dimples that just made him even cuter than before, muscular chest, but not too muscular like Arnold Schwarzenegger and his eyes were light, but the only difference is the color: his was grey and mine's were a violet purple. I wondered if he thought something about me the way I thought about him, but I hardly know him. Somewhere in the back of my mind and gut tells me that he's vaguely familiar to me; it's just I don't know where I remember him from a long time ago. He seems nice and polite, but we just stared at each other for the next couple of minutes. It would be a while after we spoke again, but he broke the silence before I had a chance to explain myself or say something. "Do I know you from somewhere because it feels like I know you before, but never seen you around here." He said. Again, I was in shock and nervous; my knees start buckling, my stomach's in knots and I could hardly speak, but the world around me started to become blurry before I fell into the darkness.
I woke up inside a room, somewhere in the village. It was small, but very comfortable too. I started to open my eyes and saw blue walls with pictures and posters everywhere. I knew it had a desk and other things like a chair, closet, window, and a bookshelf, but I was still too out of it to even notice. 10 minutes have passed and I was starting to remember things on what happened and who I met before I blacked out randomly. I gained my consciousness again and saw who was beside me all this time. It was the guy I was talking to before I fainted and blacked out. "So he stayed with me until I woke up. Wow, that was really sweet of him to stay with a stranger that he never knew before in his life and he looks like hell; when was the last time he slept?" I thought to myself. He looked at me with his curious, grey eyes and my mind was racing with questions on who was he and everything, but only said one thing, which later on, I figured out it was the stupidest thing I've ever said to anyone in my entire life:
"What's the answer when you add pickles and two?" I always get nervous when I get near someone that I like, especially to a commoner and a total stranger. He looked at me like I was crazy and started laughing, then so did I. His laugh was the best thing I've ever heard. It was deep and husky, but that's what made it even better; it was filled with pure warmth and a gentility and kindness I never heard before. He was worried about my safety and though we come from different worlds and social statuses, I still wanted to be around him. We talked for a little while and said that his name was Alec. I also found out that he has 3 brothers and sisters and he was the youngest one, his mom, Erica, is the princess's personal maid and his dad, Felix, is the king manservant. I remember those two people very much; they're very loyal to me and to my parents, even though they don't like them very much. I think they considered me their "daughter" and for me, my "parents." I left without saying goodbye, but someday I'll meet them again and tell them everything. That is IF I get the chance to.
