[Tutorial] G1G2G3G8 Clothing in Blender 2
Here is Part 1.
In Part 2 we'll take a look at some good practices for the mid-poly stage of your mesh, creating materials, and how to get your mesh over to DAZ Studio.
To recap, at this point in Blender you should have a low-poly base mesh that is UV Mapped.  If it is tightly overlying the body from use of snap tools, use alt+s to scale it along the normals away from the body.  If this doesn't seem to work right, Ctrl+N recalculates normals outward and should fix it.
Make sure you assign one or more materials.
You can create materials using the right-hand panel.  Click the round ball icon (the orange one more to the right, not the blue one more to the left) and click the "+ New" button.  Clicking on the word "Material" next to the orange ball in the dialog that appears will let you give it a name.  If you want to add more than one, just click the plus s

Why you should use a floor with Iray(lighting tut)
HDRI maps are wonderful things. HDRI or IBL is using an image to light your scene. Here's a great resource for free maps to play with. If you need a further explanation I suggest googling for people who can explain it much better than I can = /
Once you got your searching on and downloaded some maps, let's have a chat. Just have a seat, there's cookies and punch over there.
See this here image of a car? That orange one down there? Pretty nice huh? I'd like to own it personally. Love that paint job. That picture behind it is an HDRI from that site I linked above. The only model in this scene is the car. Iray automatically puts in a ground of sorts and that's what those shadows are on. Although it looks weird doesn't it?

I keep seeing a lot of images that use HDRI plus one model sort of floating in the air like this. None of them look right.
Here I plopped in a plane primitive as the floor. Looks better

[Tutorial] [Iray] Environment Lighting and You.
To get the ball rolling on some lighting tutorials, I'll start with one on Environment Lighting, and the various things it can do for you. If you have any clarifications or discrepancies with my explanations, please let me know! I'm learning this too, so this is just my current interpretation of it.
The first thing I would always suggest doing is to turn the "headlamp" on all of your cameras to "off". On "Auto", it won't light the scene if there's any other light object in the scene, but it will still activate it if all you are using is environmental lighting. The headlamp basically ensures that your entire scene is lit, by using a light at the camera. As it is a genuine light source, it can cause problems with shadows and flatten an otherwise dynamic image.
So to start with, I've asked Julianne, just back from her cosplay shoot, to give us a hand.

This will be our basic image to start with. My camera is set to "headlamp auto" so it will
