Description

"Hear me, father... and you heartless gods... for the sake of the Boiling Isles, my friends, and my family... I hereby... RENOUNCE YOU!"

Heather Wittebane Belos was very young when she got her first scar. Her father, Phillip Wittebane, went under the guise of Belos, a sage who claimed to speak to the Titan. That may have been a lie from the start, but he wasn't wrong about Wild Witches. Lucifer Blackburn made certain of that. During his crusade to make everyone suffer his pain, Lucifer laid waste to the village and in the process, scarred her ear. Fearing for her life, Belos fought Blackburn and successfully drove him away. However, he knew it was only a matter of time before the demon would return and attack again, or worse, become just like him...

To counter this, amongst other reasons, Belos began to work on Coven sigils, assigning them to their 9 designated covens. However, deep down, he knew it wouldn't be enough. Belos had to hide her away from the public to keep her from being targeted. Over many years since then, Heather had been trained to use her magic the way her father could. But during her training, Heather caught an unfortunate glimpse of his dark side: his curse. When he lashed out, Belos inadvertently scarred her on the face. Filled with much regret, Belos distanced himself from her as far as he could. It was only after a few weeks that Belos began to speak to her again, but only when he had assignments for her. However, that changed when Ben Kingston ended up in the Boiling Isles.

Growing up in the Emperor's Castle, she had a mutual distrust over humans in general. However, her father simply allowed the humans to mingle with the Witches, if only to see for himself how humanity has changed. At the Covention, Heather gave out a warning to the humans at the theater that if they were to act against any of the residents, they would be met with persecution. But there was never any reason for her to worry.

The next time Heather met the humans, she helped them in the Forbidden Stacks against Lucifer Blackburn, the very witch who scarred her. Once he was sealed away, Heather found a book on how to cure one's curse and tried to use one of its methods to cure her father. The end result was not what she desired: she ended up sharing her father's curse. But unlike him, she did not hunger for the souls of the Palismen. She seemed to get worse and worse until one day, she paid a visit to the Owl House. Little did the Platinum Princess know that she ended up getting more than they bargained for.

It was on that night when Hooty gave her cookies full of Sleeping Nettle Powder. When confronted with the inner beast that came from the curse, Heather fought against it until she looked into its memories. It remained in her father for far longer than she could've guessed. But it was the memory of how it came into being that terrified her: the night Phillip killed his own brother... Heather was distraught by this knowledge, angry and upset that her father hid the fact that he was human himself. She initially wanted to use the beast for revenge, but the Palismen soul inside the beast changed her tune. She saw their suffering and agony at the hands of her father.

She realized shortly that by trying to use the Palismen to claim vengeance, she had acted no better than he did. Not willing to let history repeat itself, Heather accepted her curse and the beast. With the newfound power in her possession, Heather made it her mission to find out more about her father's true goal on the Day of Unity, and if necessary, stop him from destroying her home...
