TOH Season 3A: Because of Them - Mactation

Since it's the official 1-Year Anniversary of Thanks to Them, I wanted to unveil one scene at least for my take on it "Because of Them", and a heart-wrenching one.

As Ben, Luz, and their friends confronted Belos at Gravesfield's graveyard, he decided to turn not just his friends against Luz, but against his own creation: Kayla Wittebane. He exposed her origins to the Hexside Squad, stating that she was a part of him he created with the last of the Titan Blood he did manage to keep from the Boiling Isles to sustain himself. He'd sent her to make sure it was safe for him, only to discover the next day that she ran away from him, just like Caleb did. Stunned to her core, Kayla's hands trembled as she stared at herself.

"Am I... am I even real?" Kayla whimpered.

"No." Belos replied. "You were just a pawn. A sacrifice. And nothing more."

A/N: I assure you, this will not be the end. I wanted to work on more pieces of her, but circumstances have prohibited me from accessing Medibang on my laptop like I usually did. And if you didn't know, Mactation means the ritual slaughter of a sacrificial victim. And Belos has done that for well over 200 years by this point.
