Hello.
Right about now, you're wondering, "is there finally a remake of this?!" Well, sadly, no. But one can hope. Now that Xbox has acquired Activision, the possibilities are endless. Maybe they'll consider adding more to Prototype franchise, even.
Anyway, this is my pitch for a remaster of everyone's favorite Spider-Man game, "Web of Shadows". The story will go similarly to its original counterpart, BUT! There's going to be significant changes and additions to it. Here's a list below.
For starters, #1: Costume Changes - Ever get tired of seeing the same old red and black? I know I was, and yet, it was only possible to change out of said styles in the Wii version, disappointingly. This remaster will fix that, adding in costumes from the Sam Raimi Trilogy, the Amazing Spider-Man movies and games, the MCU Spider-Man movies even the Spectacular Spider-Man costumes from another well-known series, to begin with. Additionally, you will also be able to switch into Spider-Carnage as a suit, but it will offer an alternative style of fighting uniquely different from the Black Suit. But we'll get to it in a moment.
Next up, #2: New Scenarios - I remember watching the credits of Web of Shadows, and was shocked to see a Symbiote Moon Knight concept that DID NOT happen. This remaster will add more sequences like that, especially about M.J.
Which brings us to #3: Web of Choice - This time around, the ending won't lean on which choice you've made more than the other. This time, the story happens with each choice you make and each result will be different. Picture this as kinda like Until Dawn's Butterfly Effect kind of thing. For example, say you've chosen to not rip Wolverine in half, yet you destroy the Tinkerer's machine. Then, there wouldn't be a Symbiote Wolverine looking for payback.
And speaking of Symbiotes, #4: Symbiosis - While it was amazing to see the combos you can pull off with the Black Suit, and I mean REALLY amazing, I can't help but feel... curious. Sure we've got the Symbiote Sense, but there should be more done with the Symbiote like Venom realized. We should be able to infect other civillians and/or enemies into our own minions. And if situation calls for it, your allies can also be in their Symbiote form like Black Cat was Post-Game. It will even become necessary at one point for Peter to do so to save one of his sweethearts while Luke Cage looks after the other.
That choice I'm talking about is here in #5: Alternate Choice - While it is nice to see M.J. wasn't hurt, I felt like there could've been a more dramatic way to choose. Like if you were to choose M.J. over Black Cat, Spider-Man would give M.J. his symbiote, infecting her and saving her life in the process. THAT would've been way more satisfying for me personally, but I think it's mostly just me. If anyone else agrees with it, though, kudos for you.
Then, of course, there's #6: Hero Combos - By that, I mean being able to team up with your ally to perform outstanding combos against a whole horde of enemies, even the bigger ones. For example, either Black Cat or Mary Jane in her Symbiote form would web up all the enemies and gather them in one place before Spider-Man in his Black Suit would unleash a devastating attack on them.
In addition comes #7: New Enemies - Personally, I think it would be satisfying to see either new Symbiote Bosses like Toxin or Phage or Scream or any of the other Life Foundation Symbiotes, or other main enemies of Spider-Man, including Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and Sandman, just to name a few. They will impact the story in their own way, of course.
And for the big finale, which will be after the finale, #8: DLC Expansion - I can't be the only one who wanted to see more out of it after each ending. Mainly, I wanted to see what would happen in the Dark Side Ending when Spider-Man ruled New York. Kinda like how Star Wars The Force Unleashed did with Starkiller. Of course, there will be additional costumes, abilities, and allies, but there's too many good ideas for it to share at this time. One thing I will say, however, is that Lord Knull will undoubtedly take the main role as the villain in that arc.
And that's my pitch for "Web of Shadows". Here's hoping Activision will answer our prayers under Xbox's watch.
