Portrait of a Neatan

Neätan. | nee-UH-taan | n. An inhabitant of the satellite Neä (also known as Niatano), applicable to any species native to that world, but in common speech usually used to refer to the Umanitá when distinguishing them from humanity. Compare as Earthling is to Human.

Ah, the Neätans! The Italian aliens. Neätans are humanoid, bipedal creatures with highly developed brains, color vision, and a descended larynx which allows them to speak. They are warm-blooded and lay soft-shelled eggs. The female (shown here) is distinguishable from the male ( example here ) by the collar of feathers around her neck.

Neätans are as ethnically varied as humans, though their complexion is invariably pale, though it ranges from greenish white to pink in hue. Their head-feathers are often a dark color (blue, purple and red being most common) but pale morphs do occur.

As a species they are impossible to generalize, with great discrepancies of character between individuals. Due to their success as a species they have evolved such that 50% of the population is homosexual (meaning fewer babies and more prospective caregivers). They do not have teeth, but a beaklike mandible similar to parrots and squid. They have three fingers and two thumbs on each hand, and have digitigrade legs.

Their planet is known to be home to the greatest pizza in the galaxy.
