I don’t usually post WIP’s like this, and especially not as my first pic of the year, but this time it feels appropriate, because this is the beginning of a Big Project for me in 2018. A fan comic! I don’t have any pages done yet, but this is my way of commiting to Doing It as the year unfolds. As for what it’s about…

It has been several years since the defeat of Majin Buu. One day, while returning to his old stomping grounds in the Diablo Desert, Yamcha witnesses the crash-landing of a Saiyan space pod. Inside is a young girl…but how can this be? A Saiyan this young after the planet was destroyed so long ago? But before that queston can be answered, another far deadlier threat emerges….

So Watch This Space, 2018, for the beginning of “Newcomer: A Dragon Ball Xenoverse Story”!

Wow. I didn't know you were into Dragonball Xenoverse? I'm a player myself, and I also play as a male earthling, and a female majin on the side. I am intrigued by this fanfic idea.

Well I am not sure if we are on the same system. I play on Xbox One. And for some reason it doesn't let me play online.

That's okay. It would have been fun though. My male earthling is currently dressed as Zamasu while wearing Tagoma's scouter. I also heard if you buy FigtherZ and have Xenoverse 2, you can get Android 21's costume for your character in Xenoverse 2. I've been considering buying Figtherz, but not sure if I just should for the costume.

Saiyan. The main character of this story, Kommbah, is directly based on my "Xenoverse" avatar.

I AM VERY EXCITED FOR THIS

Anyway I love how the blacks are blocked out here to really balance out Yamcha and Kommbah; it nicely draws the eye from one to another in a very natural way. I'm also really fond of Yamcha's expression in particular, the whole 'hah, this kid' vibe is really great.

Lookin forward to it!

I'm always worried about the balance of blacks in my image, mainly 'cuz I'm still not entirely used to thinking of it in terms of visual balance and more in terms of "well this would be black, so it will be black", if that makes sense. Happy to know it worked out here, though!

And yes, I too am quite happy I got the exact feeling I wanted out of Yamcha's expression. X3
