Regeneration

This is a short story about a lake monster who had lived peacefully in a lake unknown to the world and to many people. The name of this beast is not known and what is was no longer mattered, what does matter is that it is now a grotesque abomination rejected by nature and changed by man's carelessness and now hunts and kills everything - human and animal-alike. How did it become a mutation in the first place? Project Regeneration (or Project R for short) was commenced to restore the environment mankind had destroyed and seeks to restore the trees and animal life for "progress". Three sets of mutagenic serums were invented by scientists of Project R to recreate plants and even animals respectively, hence the inspiration of the name of the project. The downside? All of these serums were unsuccessful, causing horrifying mutational side effects which unfortunately led to an accident causing all of them spilling into the very lake where the monster slept. The monster awoken but is now experiencing the excruciating pain of the serums' side effects (growing a second face, growing big and small extra limbs and having small patches of exposed muscle and bone) looking like a zombie. It now seeks to kill any and all it believes was responsible for it's condition indiscriminately. Eventually, the monster's condition worsens and slowly succumbs to it's tragic death.

The road to he11 is paved by good intentions but by trying to control the process of "healing the planet", Project R ended up causing more harm than good.
