10 Things Design Students Should Know
Attention to Detail. It’s the small things like ensuring you’re consistent with how you format dates and times, to making sure your text boxes line up, to double-checking that your leading is consistent and your text is nicely kerned— those details are what separates the amateur design from the professional design.  Double- and triple-check everything. Make sure your edits are made in all pieces. Check the spelling, grammar, and punctuation of provided copy. Cross-check your designs against each other and the source material. Never assume that your client has proofread what they gave you. Catching these errors saves you time and your clients money in rounds of proofing. Use different programs for different tasks. Use the programs to their advantages. Edit pixels in Photoshop, vectors in Illustrator, and do your layouts in InDesign. You’ll get the best from each program for an end result that is the best it

The Forgotten male september
The name has nothing to do with me personally. For all you know I might not even be male.
As much as I like seeing a good lone woman with wind swept hair against a stormy sea in a long gown deviation....Change is good.
This is a tribute to all those artists who include male subjects in their work and help even DA out.
Plus the work is beautiful and should be seen
Special THANKS to two people StPeteArtisan for giving me big hints to expand what I was doing. okay I heard you :) And Rickbw1 whom I stole the idea and name from and while he didn't want any credit I believe one should give credit where it is due.

GBP1m ducklings and how journals reach the wor
I'd like to tell you a story of how one of my journal entries became something a bit more. I saw a story in the news a few weeks ago about Adam Morrigan, a man who specialises in roadkill art. That's the first point of this article, a discussion of his work.
What is more interesting, though, I think, is that Adam Morrigan himself has a dA account - Morriarty (not that I knew it when I wrote the journal) and has entered the discussion in my journal (http://elegaer.deviantart.com/journal/14077147/). Isn't that fabulous? That's the second bit, how dA journals can reach out to the people you least expect, and how everyone can learn something new.

The work in question:

"A controversial artist who makes sculptures from roadkill has put a £1m price tag on one of his latest pieces.
Adam Morrigan has named the artwork, which features two mallard ducklings that ha

Online Safety

Okay, I actually came across this through my unhealthy obsession with Hayden Panettiere (Claire Bear from Heroes). But i've discovered that this may actually be quite handy for people here on deviantART, especially females and the younger generation (hopefully no younger than 13 though as you shouldn't be on this site) :evileye:.
We all come across the people on dAmn asking for pictures, or their e-mail e.t.c Most times it's harmless, but not always. Just be weary of that.
I'd like to make people aware that they shouldn't be so quick to give out information.  I see a lot of people posting non-artistic plain nude shots of themselves posing infront of the mirror, and this genuinly scares me - Not because i'm frightened to look, because i'm scared of what kind of people are looking at your images, and sending messages to you.
Not everybody on the internet are who they say they are. I'm sure many of you aren't naive enough to be taken in -

Resurection

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 26, 2018, 1:42 PM
Even though I've been lurking on dA daily for years I somehow completely forgot that going into dAmn was possible. Silly me went back a few days ago and it felt like coming home. I could emote again!

So yes, I am committed to coming back to dA more regularly now. I miss the community though I'm sure much has changed in the last years (and the children in the chats seem even younger). I'll work on posting a few things over the next few days showing a highlight of what I've been up to. Spoiler: not much.

I'm still creating design at work but outside of work I haven't done much for "art". I have been knitting and crocheting like mad, though, which is an art form most wouldn't think of when thinking of art. My health has been bad for the last two years and playing with yarn is one of the few things I've been able to physically manage. I may post a few of my more favorite pieces as they are finished, but we'll see.

If any of my old peeps are still around, drop me a line! I've already found some of you in #Thumbhub and I'm sure there's a few more of you lurking.

Aaaaahhhh, dA. I've missed you so.

Yo. I'm Jessie, a Graphic Designer for a local university where I produce everything from flyers, posters, brochures and marketing materials to original artwork for events.

However I work as a designer so that I can do what I was born to do: Play hockey. Nine months out of the year I'm traveling virtually every weekend to play for any and all teams that need a goalie. Some call me a whore, but I prefer the term "freelance goalie".

When it comes to my personal art I tend to dabble in everything I can get my hands on. Sculpture is my favorite though I don't currently have a studio to work in. I also enjoy digital painting and illustration, vector, drawing, and knit and crochet. I do have a tendency to start monster projects but then get distracted by new monster projects.
