My Entry (learned a decent bit for making this and really enjoyed making this bit of fan art for one of my favorite shows)^^:
CE: Phoenix Checkmate by blenderenderer
Really loving all the awesome entries, good luck to all who entered! :D

1) I watched Code Geass about 1-2 years ago and absolutely love it. The battle of wits has always intrigued me and Lelouch's masterful strategies never failed to surprise and impress me. He's like the Artemis Fowl of Anime. This show had enough action to keep me on the edge of my seat and enough predictability to have me wondering what would happen next. I love how the main characters are not exactly your goody-two shoes protagonists, it's sometimes hard to tell who's the 'good guy', this show does a good job of creating a complex situation and giving us several different views on it. I really want to cosplay Lelouch one day... been working on a Zero helmet design with built in electronics that would allow me to do the Geass eye animation.

2) Well, if I'm lucky enough to see the movie I can't wait to see Lelouch's master strategy again. Hope he can finally achieve the world he's been aiming for. Then there's my favorite mysterious character (and probably one of my favorite characters in general), C.C. who I am dying to learn more about...will we ever learn her name? Probably not, but one can hope ^^. And then there's Kallen and Suzaku who are both smart and excellent fighters, making for a lot of epic action. Kinda disappointed we don't get a whole 3rd season, but still excited to see what they have in store for this movie! Hopefully it can live up to the high bar set by the first two seasons.

3) When I was little I used to draw all the time, little stick figures and animals composed of basic geometric shapes. In elementary school I used to come up with all these stories to tell my younger sister and we would draw comics for them and act them out creating little skits and short movies with our stuffed animals. Then moving though middle school and into high school I found myself more compelled to focus on my studies in order to get into a good college. My creative side sort of 'died' there and I stopped coming up with stories and drawing. My sister however continued drawing and took art lessons. I admit this discouraged me a bit since whenever I would try to draw I'd inevitably wind up comparing my work to my sister's and mother's and thinking I lacked talent in the area.

Later I went to some pottery classes with my mother and sister which kindled my love for 3D art and my 'rebirth' as a 3D artist. After the lessons I found it hard to keep doing pottery since the materials were rather expensive and kilns are not readily available.

Several animated movies inspired me to look into 3D software. I was super excited to learn that Maya was free for students but found it somewhat difficult to set up and learn. I then discovered Blender. It was free, open sourced, and written in Python (my first coding language which I taught myself from books), and the community and tutorials for it were extensive. Over my last years of high school I spent lots of my spare time checking out books and following video tutorials to learn how to use Blender. It was painstaking work at first, but once I got the hang of things, I came to realize how fun 3D modeling could be and started producing works that I enjoyed and was proud of.

As I began to gain a understanding of the program I joined DA both to share my art and to help other Blender users with the program. Here I found so many awesome deviants who inspired me to take my modeling further and aided me in doing so (special thanks to CG-Geek, he's one of my main inspirations). I was so excited when I started getting art trades, finally I felt like my artistic side had returned! Recently I got commissioned by a professional artist to make some models of her art exhibits and to help out with some of the electronics and coding, stuff which I would have never imagined happening a few years ago.

  1. The series to me was a really unique adventure. I fell for the character designs, the music, the dynamics, pretty much everything about it. I enjoyed that it was a powerful story throughout, and I wish I could watch it for the first time again honestly because I felt so many emotions during each episode. I truly felt connected to this series and its hard to pick just a few things from it overall. But I guess I would have to say a favorite memory was falling really hard for the relationship Lelouch and Shirley had and never second guessing it after all these years. That and just being always impressed by the integrity of the series and how many of the characters got developed and had their own moments in the spotlight. I would love it if I could thank Mr. Taniguchi and the rest of the staff for the series because it has had such a special place in my heart for all these years.
  2.  I'm really looking forward to seeing all of the characters again and hearing their voices again/seeing them in action. I know Shirley is alive in this movie and that makes me happy because she is my favorite and she deserves so much happiness. I also like the idea of seeing Lelouch interact with Nunnally and Suzaku again because they parted with his death and Nunnally especially is the most important person to Lelouch so they deserve a heartfelt reunion. He started everything for her, and she always just wanted to be with him as a family. I'm interested in seeing how they address the Zero Requiem as it probably wasn't part of Lelouch's plan to come back and there will be a lot to unfold with his personal relationships. I'm excited to see CC be her snarky, pizza loving self and Kallen piloting the Guren again. I'm excited for so much but if I go on the list may never end!
  3. My story of revival is sort of ongoing right now. I'm still trying to find my way in the world even at 26 years old, I'm still learning each day. I want to improve my art more, I want to see the world, but most of all I want to find a happy balance in my life. I've come back from sadness and difficult times before, but ultimately I still consider myself to be in the process of being revived because so much changes day to day and there is so much I want to do and accomplish.

I wish I could answer these questions but I don’t know this series, having only seen the first (maybe) 3 episodes and the finale.

3. I guess my revival is all about my identity and my mental and psychological progress. I still don’t know if I’ve ever been revived. I think it’s more me getting back up. I struggled a lot and when it came to a life or death situation, I chose apathy over death or being controlled by insanity. But I don’t think that’s revival. I don’t know.

Phew! Got mine in!
Code Geass Contest Entry by CrystallineDreamer

I really liked the complexity of the original series. The sheer necessity of thought instead of just busting in with guns blazing. A real cerebral treat! I'm really excited about this contest and I'm looking forward to seeing how far my entry will go!

I'll probably have to wait for the movie to come out on DVD or something, because so far I haven't seen it scheduled to show in a theater near me. :( But, if Lelouch can be brought back, then the sky is the limit for what this movie might entail! I'm really looking forward to watching it when I can get a chance!

My revival story? Having a neat contest like this is a good way to exercise my abilities in ways that they may have been somewhat lax in without me even realizing. lol Really good inspiration with this contest! :D

BEST OF LUCK to ALL entrants!

Out of curiosity, what if you are from a different country but you have relatives / close friends living in Canada / USA. Other than the trip to Japan, is it possible to win the other prizes (like the DVD and such)? The relatives / close friends can just accept the prize in the winner's stead and give it to them on a later date. Is such a thing possible?

1. I think the entirety of the anime was written amazingly! But one of my favorite memories was the fall of Lelouch in the final episode. The crew did stunning in making that episode, the whole episode gave me chills! Drawing the character gave me an appreciation of their designs.

2.I'm just looking forward to seeing the new movie and its animation! As for which character I couldn't say I'm so thrilled to see them all back!!!

3. My revival story begin with a battle of depression and a very hard choice. After hitting rock bottom I don't know till this day why, but I chose to live one more day. With time and help, I began to even forget what happened back then and I've been doing amazing ever since!

Enough about me I just want to tell everyone (after looking at all the entries) how such amazing work everyone has done!!! I adore all the effort and skill put into this contest it's wonderful. Just wow! Everyone did great!
