Description
I thought I should share my favorite photoshop pencil brush. All the sketches in the image above were made with it.
I hope you find it as useful as I do.
From the readme file:
This is the pencil brush I use at my every day work with photoshop. It uses one of the original photoshop brushes tips with a texture file of my own.
I have like other 6 different pencil brushes installed, but at the end of the day I end up using this one 95% of the time. It's not the cutest looking, but it's, of all the pencil brushes I tried, the one that REACTS more like a real pencil, specially when overlapping multiple trace passes. Most brushes have a tendency to go too black too fast, this one stands through multipe traces still feeling like a pencil.
Another good thing it has is that it handles brush sizes very well. You can use it thin and fat as a filler and gives good results.
It is also a low resources brush. No double pen tip, just simple tip + texture. It's fast on low end machines.
On the bad side, the texture used isn't the best looking, specially if macrozoomed. The trick to handle multiple traces is to have a very contrasted texture, so when macrozooming (when actually seeing the image pixels) it does show black & white pixels.
That's why I use this pencil as my everyday sketching tool, but do not use it to work finishings.
I've tested it at CS5 and CS6 with bamboo, intuos and huion tablets. Reacted well at all of them.
