Always pictured Captain Marvel as being a clean-cut, traditional do-gooder, more George Reeves than Christopher Reeve. Probably wouldn't work with today's sensibilities. I think Alex Ross nailed his look perfectly. but I went with something a little akin to the Don Draper style as portrayed by Jon Hamm (whom I'm surprised still hasn't landed any superhero role to date) in Mad Men.

This guy deserves the DCEU slot that went to Cyborg (who really should be in a Titans film instead). He's Batman (Detective; tactician) and Superman (power level, but also has telepathy/telekinesis, phasing, shapeshifting, and a host of other powers he does not mention until needed) combined.
Grant Morrison once said the reason he hasn't been successful as others on his own is because of discrimination and an odd form of racism. Because despite being a shapeshifter who can be anyone, underneath it all J'onn J'onnz is still a 7 foot tall green-skinned martian (you can replace "martian" with an actual race of choice and it surprisingly still applies).

2018 was a trying year for all. At the very least, we now know the moral fiber (or lack thereof) of those in our circles. Despite that and other setbacks, be of good cheer as a new day and a new year ring another chance to do what's right and succeed by our merits. After all, time is an illusion. Everything that happened and will happen is really only now... so make the now count for something good.
Happy New Year 2019 everyone!
Confession: I'm a Spidey fan, but he's not in my top 5. By the time I got into reading Spidey books as a boy, he whined too much. I'm all for being a downtrodden hero, but go too far into that direction and it becomes more than just a character flaw.
Spidey is a very well veiled Superboy pastich with elements of Philip Wylie's Hugo Danner Gladiator (which is, not surprisingly, one of Superman's inspirations).
