Influence Map by girlwiththekey Influence Map by girlwiththekey
1. Moulin Rouge (possibly the best ever Nicole Kidman film), totally blew me away the first time I saw it. The colors! The designs! The style! It was all too much!
2. High fashion has always arouse the creativity in me. I guess it’s the idea of getting to wear what you’ve dreamed of. It’s just a further step up into modern art.
3. Gossip Girl, (ONLY seasons 1-2) is a reference to #2.
4. Ah, Romeo and Juliet. It’s not so much as the plot that gets to me, but the execution of this film was so beautifully done, I’m a sucker for it. It also doesn’t hurt that Olivia Hussey is way too pretty for her own good…
5. ~lolitaAgogo’s art is so beautiful it pains me; her watercolor works have definitely been an inspiration to me for a long time now…
6. 60s pin-up girls have always somehow managed to tip-toe among the line to risqué and innocence, and I adore that.
7. Oh, Gaga, How do I love thee? Let me count the ways… I am always so inspired to paint while listening to a Gaga song, it’s insane.
8. John William Waterhouse will always be credited as the man who first seduced me into the world of art.
9. Since the first English issue came out, I’ve been hooked on Nana. It’s definitely been a HUGE influence on me, as it was the first type of artwork that I tried to stylize into my own art. Of course things have changed since then, but it still has a place in my heart and I can’t wait for the series to continue…
10. I’m a strong believer that make-up should be considered a form of art just as any other traditional medium is, as the only real difference in art forms is the canvas. I’ve been a make-up artist for years now and I have to admit that I am always so fully in awe of the creations that other people come up with…(#10. [link])
11. Marvel (particularly Rogue and Gambit) have quite literally been a part of my life since I was a toddler. I haven’t stopped loving the artwork and storylines of Marvel, and I highly doubt that I will stop anytime soon.
12. True Blood’s Pam has a killer (oh ho ho, pun intended) fashion style and is usually a beautiful reference whenever I want to draw a female (which it like 97% of the time…)
13. In reference to #1, musicals, especially flamboyant and wonderfully performed ones, never fail to get my creativity juices flowing…
14. Ah, The One. It is such a large leap to believe that I would just adore a manga about high fashion? I think not… Oh, the drama, the romance, THE CLOTHES.
15. What can I say about Judy Garland? Well, in a nutshell: She’s got the face of an angel and the voice of one too. How can I not want to just lock myself in a room and listen to her music on repeat, while I paint until my fingers cramp??
16. There’s something about Christmas just being around the corner that really brings out the festive side of me. And the lights and colors really do just look so gorgeous that it’s impossible not to want to just sit there will a palette and soak it all in…
17. And speaking of color palettes…*OrangeJu’s piece ‘dance with darkness’ makes me want to die every time I see it. I mean LOOK at that color combination and the amazing way it’s drawn! It’s definitely an original style and the colors just make it pop so wonderfully, ugh, I need it.
18. Greek mythology has been a avid interest of mine for years now and it’d be a terrible lie to say that it didn’t at all encourage me to start drawing in the first place…(Eros and Psyche.)
19. Daybreakers, the dark backgrounds in this movie really bring me to the edge. I love the constant shadows just get to me. I mean, the movie itself isn’t the best I’d ever seen (though it was a bad movie either), but it really did leave an impression on me.
20. See #18 (Aphrodite…Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli). What I find so amusing about this piece though is that it’s never been so obvious of the lack to real female models in the Renaissance era than ever, as displayed in this artwork that is quiet honestly supposed to exhibit what is female beauty…
21. See #7; (Tori Amos.)
22. See #9, though I haven’t read anything new as of 2008/2009-ish and don’t really plan too. I’ve lost interest in the new storyline, but I do enjoy rereading the first 30 volumes…
I completely forgot to add these two, but, oh well, no room now…
23. Harley Quinn ([link]) See #11, though in regards to DC comics.
24. Audrey Kawasaki ([link])
