Ubuntu with mobile Unity

This piece of work demonstrates my reaction to the news of Ubuntu announcing the development of their own version of Ubuntu built for mobile phones. Despite this, I have had the idea of making this mock up for several months, so I guess this is just good timing. What really motivated me was seeing other people attempting to mock-up their ideas. Mine may not differ greatly, but I wanted to present exactly how I would like it if I were given the choice. I hope you enjoy it, please let me know what you think.

It's a little dated now... I'd definitely want to redo it for me to like it ha.

Thank you! If anybody is clever enough to do it, I'd help them design it. But I'm not that experienced in my design, so I'm not sure how possible it is.

Sounds like a fantastic idea.
Perhaps you should try placing complete focus on the Dash. Make in the homescreen AND the notifications panel. Then throw a Ubuntu button on the device a la iPhone home button. The user should, in that sense, never need to minimize anything; the full functionality of the homescreen is in their notification panel. And perhaps, extend the dash dock to show running applications like the desktop Unity.
Regarding DeaNyx's question, I doubt the designer intends to make them clickable; they are just purely informative (most current phones do not do anything/have anything to do when you tap the battery icon, for example). However, the power button doesn't seem necessary on a mobile device, since the user can invoke the same action using the power/lock button.

The feedback is much appreciated. This is one of my first few attempts at doing concept mock-ups so forgive me if they're not brilliant. I'd suggest you alter this design and show me what you mean if you're up for it :) again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. The power cog was a bit pointless, and I know they're far from perfect, but it does give a general idea as to what I was going for hopefully!

They are pretty fantastic; at least I'm in no position to criticize them. Keep going! I'm quite sure you will be able to get your ideas heard by the Ubuntu Design team :D

Thank you, I didn't expect such a response from people. I'm not sure how I'd keep going! Hopefully opportunities will pick up. I'd love to get into elementaryOS designing, but we all know DanRabbit has that sorted! The Ubuntu Design Team are probably way ahead of us all by now. They will have a design.

Just a question: how do you expect the icons on the top bar to work? The power/gear button should be clickable (or else it has no use whatsoever), but it is clearly too small for touch interaction.

other than that, looks awesome!

There wasn't too much of a purpose, I think that after thinking this over, I probably wouldn't need it as such, but generally the design is representative of what I was going for. Thanks for the question!
