GG: The Socks are Coming

   “Are we there yet?” 

   “You say that as if we have somewhere we’re going.”

   “I swear to Azalhai, could you two shut up.” 

   Tensions were high. Team Fish Food had been wandering the swamp of Deadman’s Cove for some time now, many of the folk discontent with the amount of mud and gunk getting in their fur and clothes. Only their druid teammate seemed to be the most unbothered by this terrain, given that most of his body was covered in scales.

   Kibibi looked up at their teammates, speaking up to diffuse the tension rising, “Why don’t we take a short break? We’ve been walking for a while now.”

   “That sounds like a good idea.” Titiana stated, water dripping from her fur as she stepped onto the shore from the swamp water they had been wading through. She set her shovel down against a tree, climbing onto one of the mangrove roots and sitting down. The other members followed suit, Galileo and Kibibi not setting down their weapons. Kibibi out of the desire to make sure their team was still ready to fight, and Galileo more afraid of what might attack them.

   Lilith huffed, looking at her team and crossing her arms, “We can’t rest too long, who knows what lurks in these-” Lilith was interrupted with Titiana pouncing towards the ground nearby, tail swishing violently, ears pinned back and fur spiked along her back. Everyone jumped, Cyrus stepping over quickly to see what was wrong,

   “What did you see?”

   Titiana lifted her paws, a small orange and yellow sock wiggled about in fear. She bapped at it again, the sock still struggling against the larger foe. The team looked confused, with Kumiko chiming in, “It’s cute! Looks warm too…”

   “Uh… where did our stuff go?” The folk who had set their stuff down quickly turned their attention to where they had put their things down, Estelle standing nearby as she pointed out. The folk rushed over to where their stuff had been, looking to see if anything fell over or got misplaced. It was gone.

   Lilith was seething. She pointed at her teammates, scowling, “I knew this was a bad idea! Now look! Our weapons are gone!”

   Cyrus frowned at the golden folk, “You’re not innocent either! You lost your sword!” 

“Let’s not get at each other’s throats here! We need to focus on getting all our stuff… back…” Kumiko was cut off as they noticed the hoard of socks surrounding the team.
“Crap.”

“Where are they coming from?!”

   The folk who still had their hands on weapons readied themselves to fight back, Galileo and Kibibi with their shovels and Estelle with her bow. The rabbit like folk drawing her bow, ready to release the arrow and impale any of the socks in the hoard. Galileo however, was not having an easy time. The socks started climbing up the druid, almost taking him away like they did the team’s weapons.

   Kibibi watched as the druid was being surrounded by socks, unable to make a move due to the sheer number of socks climbing on his body. Little did he know, Kibibi was next. He glanced to his shoulder, noticing that a sock was perched on his shoulder. He let out a shriek, trying to get the sock off of him.

   Lilith watched the three folk as her jaw dropped, Cyrus trying to step on a sock behind her. He scowled, “They won’t die. I keep stepping on them and they just keep getting up again.” Titiana kept pouncing on socks, and Kumiko was watching as a family of socks swam towards the shore.

   It was a shitshow, to say the least. Lilith looked at the largest folk, Galileo, and held her head in her hands, “Why aren’t you fighting back?!” Galileo, now covered in socks, mumbled under his breath something about them being too small. She gritted her teeth,

   “That’s no excuse! They stole our items and are now surrounding us!”

   “I was told to pick on people my own size…”

   “BY WHO?! YOU DON’T HAVE MEMORIES?!”

   Galileo sniffled in response. Kumiko, now snuggling with the wet yet oddly warm socks, looked at Lilith, “That was a bit harsh Lilith…” Lilith looked on the verge of exploding. Her team… they were all idiots… They couldn’t even fight against a bunch of wet SOCKS. How the hell were they supposed to fight against actual threats if they couldn’t fight against SOCKS?! 

   Lilith rubbed her temples, scowling, “This is going to be a long Wyld Hunt…”
