Shooting indoors, and my weekly spotlight

My weekly tip
This week I want to talk about shooting in-house.
If you ever tried it (and you did), you know you get many problems shooting indoors. There usualy isn't enough light to get a well balanced shot. People are a little blurred even if they move ever so slightly, the colours are usualy redish' then they should be. using flash gets bad resaults...
Here is what you can try:

1. About using the built in flash , read this - gilad.deviantart.com/journal/1…

2. Using Hot shoe flash (external) is better - bounce the light of the walls to get better spreading of the light.

3. If you use Reflex camera, use higher ISO, up to 800 ISO. It will get you different levels of "noise" (depends of the camera), but you can use it handheld, and avoid the motion blur.

4. Use natural light. Open windows as far as they are not infront of you, and the the light spread into the room.

5. Use white ligts in the house to get more natural lighting. Coloured light will mess up your WB and that's why you get all sorts of strange tones. You can adjust WB yourself to one of the options predesigned, or shoot RAW and adjust it later. The best would be to use white light and let the auto WB figure out what you need.

6. Place your camera on a steady surfuce and use timer. A tripod, sofa, table, floor... all are good. The timer will protect the exposure from the press you make on the camera while shooting. Major improvement!

7. Ask people you shoot to try and not move. It is always the easier choise.

Not much in this shot, what makes it have such an impact.
A kid, a ball, a wall, a basket. The tention and dynamics is what makes it effective

I like nature shots, but the main reason I don't do too much of them is that it's very techniqual and not very original.

The angle makes it so different.
You feel the size difference. She seems so little, as her friends.
She feels like a kid, inoccent and small, as the photographer wanted. Great work.

Eifel tower has been presented in photographs unbelievble amount of times. Thisshot seems to be one of the times you see it and think: "I never Eifel tower like that". Now, if that not original, what is?
