The Family Gathering by gilad The Family Gathering by gilad

The evening falls on another day
Another day of being an outcast
Living the life that nobody cares for
Not relevant and not on anyone's mind
Time for another family gathering

I always have my family to remind me how lucky I am
I am not really alone at being alone

****

Ship cemetery in Jaffa, Israel.
I have a couple more shots of this location in my gallery.
This is a goodbye, this cemetery doesn't exist anymore, the ships are gone. I for one, will miss them. I hope the fact that they will be missed makes a difference in a strange way in this hyper dynamic world.

Such beauty shouldn't be wasted. It comforts me to think that you, as well as others - with luck- have noticed this. And saved a portion of it. : D

Wow this one is amazing and very interesting.
I guess you shot before the ships were all gone, and it feels like you knew they were about to be removed.
The ambiance is very sad and pessimistic, the clouds are heavy and it looks like the sky weigh a thousands tons on our shoulders and head.
The two ravens (they look like raven though) add a very "graveyardy" touch, it's like in all those horror films you know, maybe it's cliché, but that's also a classic that we all have the meaning in mind.
The sky looks quite odd with green and yellow tints, I guess those dapple are original ...

And the see which is just at their feet and they cannot be in it, what sad it is to be on the end of it's life, looking what we used to do without being able to even approach it because of so many reasons.

Despite the fact that I've never been there, or seen the ships in person, I will miss them too. Your series of these ships are the first works I've seen of yours, and have always been my favorites. Your work is incredible, even just for that emotional connection alone. Keep it up! :w00t:

A wonderful tribute to the ship(grave)yard. The colors are fantastic and moody while the sky sets off the boats beautifully. While much of the color is concentrated off to the left, the green of the ship to the far right helps to balance the picture out nicely. The water draws you in and the inclusion of the two birds flying overhead really helps to ground the viewer.

It’s nice to think that something which is seen by so many as trash can really be portrayed quite beautifully if you choose to see it so. Well done!
