Between The Walls by gilad Between The Walls by gilad

Listening to the heart of the old city
I can almost feel the presence of the ancient architect
Imagining how one day life will go through his stones
Making the foundation for generations to come

I raise my head to the sky
Inviting the cold night air shiver my soul
It is now that I feel the power of time
Shaping my tradition into stones

Can you hear me old architect?
Can you see me looking up at you?
Keep your brilliant work designing the veins
Our blood runs through for the longest time

Part 2 - Night Crack
Between the walls of the old city, Jerusalem.

If you look closely on the left, you can see the the temporary shelter - The sukkah, on the balcony, where the jews traditionally spend the Sukkot holiday.
You can read more about Sukkot here: [link]

The shot was taken with a tripod and the sigma 10-20mm

I'm a composer and I've spent the last hour or so working on a piece that I am writing for this world that I am creating. The melody is haunting, sad but above all...ancient. I went onto deviantart in search for the image that fit what I was writing. This is that image. It moves me...it's somehow a piece of my melody....I love it....and I thought I would tell you. :)

This one is psychedelic for me, very very good, atrange, just like I was staring at place that has no "up" and "down", it`s almost surreal.
I love it!

This is very inspiring! Brilliant shot and the angle of the walls, texture, light and shadow moving up into oblivion. There is an element of Louis Kahn about the enormous austire shapes and materials. The poem acompanies really well. Love it! :)

I've rarely seen the sky so cavernous and unsure. There are so many photos like this, but none of them give me a real sense of vertigo and disorientation like this one.

I really like the eerie blue tones in this. Do you use a filter or something to achieve this effect or do you do something else?

Extremely beautiful and fascinating with it's cold, blue and grey colours and great angle and yet quite pressing. Like the walls could collapse on you any minute. And when I explore the photo further, I just find it calming. To see a little clearing in this jungle of buildings, see how the night sky is forming and it makes me feel totally calm. Such variety of feeling you can sense, that's what I like. A fantastic architectural capture.

And must say, liked your poem as well. Especially the four last lines, it was very beautiful.

I love the effect the wide angle lens has on the architecture in this shot, feels very claustrophobic like the buildings are closing in on me. In combination with the single light source and cool color temp its a pretty creepy image, reminds me of something out of "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari". Don't know if that was your intent with this one that but was my first impression. Nicely done:).

Can be phrased by 2 ways as I see it :
1) A black hole where all sucks in and no body goes out... (the bad way)
2) An escape to the sky from the urban prison (the good way)
