Chapter 6.) – The mysterious ancients and the gym leader of Pewter City
“After a long and arduous trip from Viridian Forest, our heroes have finally arrived at Pewter City. And what of the four mysterious Pokemon? Well, that’s about to change thanks as a mysterious airship looms above Pewter City.” Said the Narrator as Ryder, Pikachu, Charmander, and the rest of the group arrive at Pewter City.
“Well, gang, here we are.” Said Ryder. “Pewter City. Home of the Rock-Type gym leader.”
“Pika, Pika!/Charmander!” Said Pikachu and Charmander excitedly.
“I know a friend who is a Rock-Type gym leader.” Said Misty. “He’s a great cook, but he’s also into girls too much. Did I also mention he’s a great healer in Pokemon?”
“Wait, he is!?” Said Ryder.
“Well, I have been on adventures with Ash and Brock in the Kanto and Johto region.” Said Misty.
“Lucky…” Said Ryder in dismay. “I want to go with you…”
“And you are.” Said Misty.
“Oops.” Said Ryder in a dumbstruck tone and fell on the ground comically. “I forgot…”
“It was obvious that you began your superhero journey just two days ago.” Said Rotodex.
“But, what about those four Pokemon?” Krysten asked. “Do they belong to you?”
“Oh?” Said Ryder. “You’ve noticed? Nope, they don’t belong to me. But if I’m correct, that’s Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco. Starters of the Paldea region. And that Pikachu with a strange cap on him belonged to someone, same with the three starters. But who?
“Excuse me.” Said a strange voice. “But that Sprigatito belongs to my roommate.”
Ryder and the rest of the gang turned to a girl in her academy uniform. She had an Oshawott and a Sandshrew in her hand.
“I’m sorry, but who are you?” Ryder asked.
“I’m Anne.” Said the student. “These are my Pokemon, Oshawott and Sandshrew.”
“You’re from…” Said Ryder until Misty interrupted.
“Indigo Academy!” Said Misty. “Just adjacent to Viridian City. I know all about that school everywhere I go.”
“I guess that sums up.” Said Ryder.
“Anyways, I know Sprigatito from anywhere.” Said Anne.
“And who did it belong to?” Ryder asked.
“She goes by the name of Liko.” Said Anne. “She attended Indigo Academy just a year ago.”
“Liko?” Ryder asked. “That’s her name?”
“Yup.” Said Anne. “She came from a far-off region known as the Paldea region. And I do hear that the only academy in the Paldea region is Uva Academy.”
“Perhaps I’ll attend Uva Academy by the time I’m finished with Kanto, Sinnoh, and Galar.” Said Ryder.
“Good idea, Ryder.” Said Misty.
“Anyways, this Sprigatito belongs to this Liko fella?” Ryder asked.
“Yup!” Said Anne in a happy tone. “Though, this Sprigatito can be a bit distant at times like this.”
“So like, it rebels?” Ryder asked.
“Yup.” Said Anne. “As you can see…”
Sprigatito began to distance itself from the rest of the group as Ryder tilted his head in confusion.
“You’re right.” Said Ryder. “It is rebellious, but don’t you think it needs a talk?”
“I don’t know if that works.” Said Anne.
“You’ll never know.” Said Ryder as he walks up to Sprigatito as the grass cat Pokemon looks at Ryder.
“Meow…?” Sprigatito said unamused as it looked up to Ryder.
“If you need some talk, let me know.” Said Ryder. “I’ll be right here and won’t leave you, until you are satisfied with our talk.”
Sprigatito then looked back at Ryder in a rather surprised expression. It has never been talked about in a rather important manner like it before.
“Meow?” Sprigatito said, tilting its head at Ryder.
“Just come find me, when you need a talk.” Said Ryder as he stands up and returns back to his group.
“What’s wrong?” Misty asked.
“Nothing. I’m okay however.” Said Ryder as he smiled with glee. “Anne, I think you should look after Sprigatito and the other three Pokemon. If this Liko feller comes by here, tell her she lost it during her flight.”
“Sure.” Said Anne. “Leave those four to me.” Anne then takes the four Pokemon of Paldea as an Oshawott and Sandshrew comes to play with the four of them. “So, since we’re here together, what should we do first?”
“I’m suggesting the Gym up ahead.” Said Ryder.
“How about going to that museum?” Said Misty. “Besides, you need to cool your jets before you get to battle the gym leader.”
“Oh. That’s right.” Said Ryder. “Thanks for the reminder! It’s best to rest and learn a lot before you take on the gyms. Luckily, there’s one nearby.”
“That’s right.” Said another mysterious voice.
“I know that’s you, Brock.” Said Misty.
There behind the group stood the Rock-type gym leader, Brock.
“I’ve heard the news about a young man like you.” Said Brock. “Seeing you from such a battle at Viridian City had the world awaken to such joy.”
“Well, that’s only a warm up.” Said Ryder. “Besides, I’m just getting started.”
“Now that we’re gathered here, let’s enter the museum and learn something from there.” Said Anne. “Besides, I’ve wanted to learn something from the museum and complete my studies.”
“Right then.” Said Ryder. “To the museum we go!”
And everyone went to the Pewter City museum to learn something from there.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inside, the group began to study the exhibits as they wandered about. Giorno and Krysten fix their eyes on the ancient Pokemon exhibit, while Misty and Brock have a good talk about their adventures.
Whilst upstairs, Anne studies the space exhibition as Ryder enters a room filled with mystery. There stood a giant mural that showed a cradle with a rainbow end inside it. Pikachu, Charmander, and Ryder stepped in closer to see the painting description.
“Is that…a cradle?” Ryder asked himself.
“Pika?/Char?” Pikachu and Charmander were both puzzled by the sight of the mural that caught Ryder and the duo’s eyes.
“What do you both think of that mural?” Ryder asked his two Pokemon.
“Pika…/Charmander…” Pikachu and Charmander pondered as the mural painting of a cradle glowed a little bit, much to the trio’s surprise.
“Did that thing just…-?” Said Ryder before he was interrupted by Anne who called out to Ryder.
“Hey, Ryder!” Said Anne. “We’re ready to go! Are you coming?”
“Uh…s-sure!” Ryder hesitated but then regained his confidence as quickly as he began to realize he has a gym to tackle.
Back downstairs, Ryder met up with the group and Misty began to ask Ryder about something.
“Did you find something?” Misty asked.
“Yeah.” Said Ryder. “But I’ll tell you all about it after the match.”
“Well, It would be an honor to battle against the hero of Viridian City.” Said Brock. “But the rules of the Pewter gym says you’ll need a water or a grass-type in order to enter.”
“Luckily, I’ve got a Bulbasaur to back me up.” Said Ryder. “Sorry, you three. We’ll continue training by the time I’m finished with my first gym battle.”
“Pika!/Char!/Meta.” Said the three Pokemon as they called Bulbasaur good luck.
“Bulba!” Bulbasaur nods his head and looks up at Ryder who is now ready for the first gym battle.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inside the Pewter City gym, the lights began to turn on as the announcement went live.
“Welcome folks to the first ever known in history of Pokemon battling at the World Pokemon League Grand Prix.” Said the announcer. “Where today, we’re taking a deep look into the first battle lap in this magnificent battle bowl we call a ring barrier! Today’s first match takes place in the Kanto region where there have been rumors of a young boy who saved Viridian City from a few Team Rocket grunts that were attempting to steal all the Pokemon at the Pokemon vault of the Pokemon center. Could that boy be the next Rainbow Man? But let’s not get to hasty folks, Let’s meet two of our best contestants!”
The referee then began to speak as the referee tower elevator went up to the limit of the where the referee should be.
“Before stands all.” Said the referee. “Brock, the rock-type gym leader. Please step forth into the ring.”
Brock then enters the contestant tower as the elevator cabin went up to the max limit of the height.
“Before stands the rock-type gym leader.” The referee continued. “Ryder Zephyr, hero of Viridian City. Please step forth into the ring.”
Ryder then entered the other contestant tower at the other end as he too went up to the max height of where Brock and the referee should be.
“That’s him!” Said one of the spectators. “The boy who saved the Pokemon in Viridian City!”
“He saved my sweet Weedle!” Said another spectator. “He should be praised for saving my sweet Pokemon.”
Goh, who was sitting on the spectation zone with Misty, Anne, Krysten, and Giorno were excited to see how Ryder battles against Brock.
“Brock has some strong Pokemon when it comes to Pokemon battles.” Said Goh. “But if I’m correct, Ryder has trained his Pokemon in the Viridian forest since day 1. To simply put, with only one Grass-type and only two Rock-types, numbers hardly matter at this point.”
“Let’s give that brain of yours a break before we talk too much.” Said Misty.
“Right, my bad.” Said Goh.
“I see that you made it to my gym.” Said Brock. “You should be lucky. Not many fated Trainers often make it this far when it comes to the Viridian forest. But you, you’re a special type of trainer the moment you saved the Pokemon of Viridian City.”
“I can only be certain wherever they are, they’re watching us.” Said Ryder.
“I’m certain, they are.” Said Brock as most of the people with their Pokemon who had been transferred to Pewter City are cheering on for the two trainers who are about to begin a Pokemon battle.
“Then I did become a hero.” Said Ryder. “But as I told them, this is only a warm up. The real hero training begins here and now, regardless on the dangers ahead of me. And I won’t give up on my Pokemon, my friends, and my hero: Rainbow Man. So come at me with your strength!”
“I admire your heroic attitude.” Said Brock as he readies his Pokeball. “Very well, then. I, Brock, will support you and your Pokemon into becoming Pokemon superheroes even if my Pokemon put their lives for you and your hero work. Geodude! You’re up!” Brock then sends out Geodude into battle.
“Bulbasaur, it’s hero time!” Said Ryder as he sends out Bulbasaur into battle.
Bulbasaur readies for whatever Brock’s Geodude might throw at.
“Battle begins now!” Said the referee.
“Geodude! Use Tackle!” Said Brock as Geodude came rushing in.
“Bulbasaur! Vine Whip!” Said Ryder as Bulbasaur jumped in the air to avoid the attack and landed a critical hit using Vine Whip.
The explosion was too big, the crowd couldn’t tell if Bulbasaur or Geodude fainted. The referee checked to see the result, until the dust cleared, the referee saw Geodude completely fainted.
“Geodude is unable to battle!” Said the referee. “Bulbasaur takes the win!”
“Good work, Bulbasaur!” Said Ryder. “But don’t celebrate just yet. We have but one Pokemon left to defeat.”
“Bulba?” Bulbasaur asked in both puzzlement and glee.
“Took the words right out of my mouth.” Said Brock. “Of course, when it comes to being down to the last Pokemon, the ring will determine which of our Pokemon will be victorious.”
Suddenly, the Rock-type battlefield opened up as Bulbasaur entered the ring barrier as the battlefield shifted into an actual Rock-type ring barrier.
“Now, we’ll decide it all here and now!” Said Brock. “Onix! You’re up!” And he sends in Onix into battle.
“Then let’s unleash our strength together as one!” Said Ryder. “IT’S HERO TIME!!!”
The crowd begins to cheer very loudly as the ring barrier begins to spin slowly as it builds up speed.
“Now Onix!” Said Brock. “Take them down with Rock Throw!”
Onix then uses Rock Throw on Bulbasaur with a direct hit. However, Bulbasaur brushed off the damage on itself with only one vine as if it was nothing as it looked back at Ryder with a confident smile.
“Nice hit.” Said Ryder. “But we’re not finished just yet. We’ve just reached the top of the first hill! Bulbasaur, Vine Whip!”
Bulbasaur then used his Vine Whip and landed another Critical hit on Onix. But Onix was still standing even if it’s life is hanging by a thread.
“I see it!” Said Ryder. “Your Onix’s ability is Sturdy!”
“Great observation!” Said Brock. “The ability Study allows Rock, Steel, and Ground types to hold on to their lives even on their last stand.”
“Your Onix has shown such heroic endurance!” Said Ryder. “Not only will you make a fine gym leader, but a great superhero too!”
“My, aren’t you that gusto?” Said Brock. “But that’s enough talk. Onix, use Bind!”
Onix then wraps its rugged body around Bulbasaur, strangling it with such strength. But Bulbasaur, despite being in a bind, smiled confidently while looking back at Ryder.
“Rainbow Man once told me: “A superhero never shies away from a fair Pokemon battle such as a gym leader!” Said Ryder. “And that’s how Rainbow Man braves a fair Pokemon battle! Bulbasaur, Vine Whip again!”
Bulbasaur then uses Vine Whip on Onix again as Onix lost focus and let go of Bulbasaur as soon as Onix fell to the ground, defeated.
“Onix is unable to battle.” Said the referee. “As a result, the winner goes to the hero of Viridian City. Ryder Zephyr!”
The battlefield then returns to its original state as both trainers and Pokemon return to their ends of the battlefield.
“That was a great battle.” Said Ryder. “Let’s battle again sometime!”
“I agree.” Said Brock. “Here, your first badge!”
Brock then hands out the Boulder Badge to Ryder as Pikachu, Charmander, and Metapod ran up to Ryder and Bulbasaur with such excitement.
“You know, young man.” Said Brock as he revived Geodude and Onix. “You reminded me of a young man named–”
“I know, it’s Ash Ketchum, correct?” Ryder interrupted. “Misty and Goh told me about them.”
“How did–?” Said Brock before he was interrupted again. This time, an explosion was nearby.
Everyone panicked as the shaking stopped.
“What was that!?” Said Goh.
“Did something happened!?” Said Misty.
It wasn’t long until Anne picked up the phone to see someone on the phone.
“Hello!?” A voice cried. “Someone help!”
“Liko!?” Said Anne. “Hold on! I’ll find you!”
“Hurry!” Said Liko. “The Explorers have me held hostage at the museum!”
As soon as the phone call ended, Anne rushed to Goh, Misty, Krysten, and Giorno about the explosion. This left the four in shock as they called out to Brock and Ryder about what happened.
“Oh no!” Said Brock. “The Museum!”
“A villain came here!” Said Ryder. “Bulbasaur, Metapod, return and recharge! Pikachu, Charmander, with me!”
“Pika/Char!” Said Pikachu and Charmander as Ryder returned Bulbasaur and Metapod into their Pokeballs and rushed outside to the Pewter City museum where a fire filled the sky with smoke.
Brock came right behind Ryder with his Steelix, Blissey, Croagunk, and the rest of his Pokemon team.
“Was Team Rocket doing this!?” Said Brock.
“No.” Said Ryder. "I have to investigate! Pikachu, Charmander, it’s hero time!”
“Pika!/Char!” Said Pikachu and Charmander as they all rushed through the flames and into the museum, much to people of Pewter City’s concern.
“Ryder earned his first gym badge on his four region journey, but at the cost of a mysterious explosion that sent the people panicking. Who could have brought such an atrocious act of villainy? Ryder, Pikachu, and Charmander will have to battle the villainous intruders and the flames of the Pewter City museum, as the journey continues…” Said the narrator, thus ends chapter six.
TO BE CONTINUED…
Here's the sixth part of Pokemon Superheroes. First badge of the first arc! Woo! I've worked three months for this to happen!
Also, I've got part one of my talk and part two of my talk.
Part one is this:
This is almost similar to yet another one of the Pokemon anime series. But entirely different. Instead of taking on gym challenges head on in a haste, Ryder and the gang enter a Pewter City museum before it would be overrun by the Explorers. That's why in part two of chapter five, I forgot to introduce Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Captain Pikachu after I've finished the second part of chapter five. Whoops. 😥 Anyways, Ryder is still training and learning how to manage his Pokemon team with only four by his side. So, for his first match against Brock, he has to participate with Bulbasaur in the first gym challenge because Pikachu is an Electric type along with Charmander being a Fire type and Metapod a Bug type. So to simply go out against Geodude and Onix with those three is a risky maneuver, be it both Rock and Ground type at the same time. That's why Ryder went with Bulbasaur to tip the scales during his first gym battle. I know this could've been perfect for some of you guys, but hey, I'm making this story as hard as I could. Okay?
And here's part two:
Now that I'm back at school, I'll be working as hard as I can to finish each and every homework I have at school, regardless of the assignment from each class I've taken. But I've also wanted to continue more on Pokemon Superheroes as the story unfolds. This is where my Goofball moments goes minimal to the max. You can expect me working on my homework or at school, and you can also expect me to be everywhere in DeviantArt while I'm at school. Holidays are mandatory during my special days so hold your horses. That's why I'll be working on Pokemon Superheroes during weeks, weekends, and holidays, admist the school I'm attending.
Once again, I don't know if I can add music. I'll have to ask.
And as always, thanks to @KratosGoji91 for the lovely inspiration.
And let's also give a big around of applause to the following Deviants who supported me, regardless on reading the story or not.
Here are the nominees for supporting inspiration:
