Shiny Pokemon are hard to find, I believe the probability to find one is 1/8,500! I have only seen one twice, but I have a shiny Nidoran female, which I almost fainted when I caught it.XD

1/8192 unless you use the Masuda method, in which case it becomes 1/2048

Nice catch. I'm hoping to be able to hatch a shiney Charmander one day, but I'm going to need a lot of luck and patience.

Man, that's one small number,0_o; and the Masuda method is hard to do unless you have access to WIFI.

Their is a good method to catching them on Pokemon Platinum, but you would have to ask a Pokemon breeder to breed you a shiny one, unless you get lucky or try one of the rumored ways to get one without hatching to breed one.

Not as hard as you think, but then that depends if you know someone with another language game, or have the money for a second console and import.

I'm going to go with cold hard pot luck.

This is hard for me to answer, so I'll just comment. xD

In Second Gen. I had a shiny Pidgey (It was gray then not a radioactive yellow like it is now :C) and a Venonat. In Diamond, I bred a shiny Vulpix (now a Ninetales. I was breeding for a nature but a shiny is a nice bonus.) and recently caught a shiny Whismur in my Nuzlocke'd Ruby. I cheated and caught it but...I don't think anyone in their right mind would pass a shiny up.

And that shiny event Raikou, which doesn't count technically.

Wild caught it is!

xD I also remembered I have hacked Charmander that was a gift. I wouldn't mind so much...if it wasn't caught in a master ball. It has "Hi, I'm hacked! c:" written all over it.

Two of my Legends are shiney.
My Rayquaza, Ozone, and my Latias -- who I did not name.

How'd you get those? I'm curious since only one of each appears in each game, and neither are breedable.

On Latias I lucked out.
When I was hunting her down, she appeared as a shiny when I battled her.

Rayquaza, on the other hand, I spent hours trying to make shiny.
Before I battled him, I saved my game.
Then I'd go up to him and turn if off if he wasn't shiny.

I only found out within the last year that Shiney Pokemon have been in the game since Gen II and I have never ever encountered one!
