dA promotes Art Theft

Journal Entry: Sun Aug 23, 2009, 7:34 AM

Ghostie's Journal

Apparently now, if you see a piece of stolen artwork, but you're not the maker of the original, then you have no right to touch that report button: fav.me/n90693

To be honest, I'm disgusted, but not surprised...

On another note, I've decided to give comissions a try: Scroll down to the scroll box for more details.

I'm not expecting too many takers, but I though I'd put them there, so at least you have that option.

Ghostie's OC sketches from £2.25

Ghostie's decided to take sketch comissions on a trial basis.

She'll sketch one or more of your OCs in a pose of your choice, with the following exceptions:

- No Hentai or lewd poses (Possibly may do subtle Yuri or Yaoi, provided all characters are over the age of consent and you understand that I'm not that good at character interactions).

- No Backgrounds (Interactive items like swords or food are allowed)

- I will only sketch your OCs or fan characters only, no fanart and no other peoples OCs (Unless I have been given permission from the OC's owner)

Price List

Chibi sketch (Single Character): £2.25

Character bust (Single character): £2.75

Full body sketch (Single character: £3.25

Add an additional character: +50p for each character.

The original sketch shipped to you: The price of the commish + the shipping cost

In all cases I will send you the signed, but unwatermarked scan. Should you wish to keep your email address private from me, I will upload it to Megaupload and PM you the download link.

Payment options

UK: I prefer Paypal, but I will take a cheque if need be (Just be aware that cheques take about 5 days to clear)

International: Paypal only I'm afraid

Sending cash is NOT advisable

If there's anything you need to know, that I haven't mentioned here, please PM me

More problems are arising in DA more recently and it gets tiring. I just wish things would get better, but I guess that the worser things get the more people will realize it and the more they will try and improve it.

We hope anyway. The one good thing I can say though, is that without it, I'd probably still be pencil colouring

*copy-pastes my comment on the news*

Eh, while this ticks me off to no end, I'm not that surprised.

dA doesn't give a s*** about it's users anymore, this is quite evident if you've been trying to report bad adverts - spyware, viruses, redirects.

I reported at least five, and the only reply I ever got was from another frustrated deviant who had lost a computer to deviantART's bad advert management. If they aren't worried about their users' computers' safety (which, without the computer, how the heck are we supposed to get on the bloody website?), then they d*** well aren't going to care about the users' hard work getting stolen.

With the adverts that definitely not surprising, since they get paid for them

Well I just got a long post from a staffer type person ($ in front of the sign), and he was defending their lameness so I'm like, whatever.

I showed him the six screencaps I had (I underestimated), and told him I have long sinced stop cataloguing because I was being ignored, suggested making a group specifically for advert monitoring, and told him to make another malware thread that's actually monitored and not ignored.

Basically, trying to act civilly towards an IDIOT.

I loathe deviantART.

O.O

It's ironic... we're using dA to complain about dA!

Yep.

I wish Geocities (FFF GEOCITIES IS NOT SPELLED GHOSTLIGER. IFAIL) wasn't closing. I'd like to just use it and LJ and be a happy brat, but that's ... very unlikely. Must find another web hosting thingy then.

Geese, that's ridiculous. Makes me wanna back out of DA if they keep this junk up.

Good luck on the commissions too.

Ya :iconsadtruthplz:

Thanks :D Though, I doubt much will come of it, given my poor track record with takers... Once offered a free raffle for my 2k kiriban where all you had to do was say you were in, then when I hit 2k I'd pick a number out of the hat and the winner would decide what I drew for my kiriban... It didn't require submitting art, it didn't require paying to enter, and still only 2 people entered...

It makes me wonder what else is screwy with DA. I've heard somehwere they allow tracing as well.

Yeah, you can put up traced artwork, but you can't put up a study if it looks too close to the original!

I see. Still, I don't like that idea. And I really don't like what DA is becoming.
