Mole by GhostLiger Mole by GhostLiger
A quick pic of Mole from Animals of Farthing wood. Just recently got back into it and had to draw Mole.

Sadly I'm a bit "meh" about the way it came out. My muse wasn't in the right mood for it.

It's a mole! I've never read/see/etc. Animals of Farthing Wood; what's it about? And if it helps your 'meh'ness any, this does indeed look like a mole, and so you have succeeded! =D

Indeed it is a mole XD This mole in fact

Animals of Farthing Wood is a book series written by Colin Dann. It was later turned into a cartoon series that I obsessed over when I was younger. Season one followed the story of a group of animals fleeing Farthing Wood after humans begin leveling it, and traveling to an animal sanctuary known as White Deer Park and the next two series follow the happenings within the park when they get there.

The only thing about it is that it's very realistic, and by that I mean pheasants spend too long in the farmer's view, hedgehogs spend too long crossing the motorway and a rabbit runs out in front of shooters. I think you get my point yes?

Yay for looking like a mole XD

Well, that actually looks quite exactly like the mole, so I'd say you did a wonderful job! =Dd

Oh, fun. I hope it wasn't too Enviormentalist, though. Sometimes those books gets way too preachy and it just detracts from the story. But then I suppose you wouldn't be so happy with it if they had overdone it, lol!

...Yikes. Ow. Yikes. That does sound frighteningly realistic. ^^; I knew a series that was a little like that; one time the duck who was the main character in this one book tried crossing the highway. He survived, but never went again, but his brother kept doing it, and one day his brother didn't come back. :(

Yay ^^

Ah no, it was just brutally honest (with the exception that a group of animals generally wouldn't swear an oath not to hurt each other, and travel to a new home. Although I've never really sat in a forest that was getting leveled, so I wouldn't know :paranoid: )

Hmm, that actually sounds familiar

Oh, so all the meat eaters and herbivores agreed not to fight? That's always been my biggest problem with talking animal stories; how do you get around the fact that some of them STILL EAT OTHERS EVEN THOUGH THEY TALK? Thankfully, Brian Jacques' Redwall series didn't have that problem; they all just ate fish. ^^ Except for the bad guys, who occasionally ate other sentient creatures if they were REALLY evil.

Indeed. Hare had big reservations about the journey at first, so Badger revived the oath. It did cause a few problems when they got to the park though, because the resident animals weren't keen on them so the Stag gave them their own patch of land, but on the condition that they only hunted on that land. Of course when they're having to hunt on land where most of the animals are from Farthing Wood it gets awkward. Of course that was only whilst Scarface was the reigning fox of the park. When he had an unfortunate encounter with Farthing Wood's Adder the tension dropped.

Fish is good ^^

Yeah...that would indeed be awkward for the meat-eaters. Oh goodie, yay for dropped tensions. Man, this thing sounds a lot more like an adult book allagory of real life than a kids' book!

Yes. ^^ But crustaceans are better!

It does doesn't it? You wouldn't find books like that made into kids cartoons nowadays.
