Dungeness 1 by GhostLiger Dungeness 1 by GhostLiger
I was in Kent in England recently and paid a visit to Dungeness just up the road from the caravan park we were staying at.

It's an incredible place; despite being right next to the sea it's officially the only desert in the UK, but what really gets me about this place is the sheer desolation that can only be truly felt by visiting yourself. It's kinda like the UK's Junkyard; there's things just dumped all over the place and left to rot. Some things are to be expected at a beach, like old boats and sheds but there's also various rusty railway lines, wagons and a random stove just dotted all over the place.

The houses are especially interesting; there's no pattern to their build. It's like someone came along and said I want to build right here. There's also a lot of houses made out of converted train carriages.

Here's a selection of images I liked the most from my photographs.

Told you that you'd have to see it to believe it. There's no other place quite like it. ;)

It's totally worth the visit. It has to be seen to be believed.

You must! Word of advice though, don't wear shoes with holes in the soles. *Still trying to get the sand and shingle out*

Well the good thing is there's no dust storms. I still find it amusing to say I found seashells in the desert.
