Fullmetal Kingdom + Ghostbusters, Chapter 1
,Prologue: Amestris Ruins“Several years ago, there was a Country based on Secrets and Sacrifice. Amestris. In it, several corrupt politicians, followers in black hoods, and mutants with red marks on their bodies, nearly brought the whole of our world to a close. Breaths were our last, vision went black, our days upon this Earth were drawing to a close. BUT, despite what intentions these dark minds had, there were those who were not so easily swayed by evil. They suffered, yet climbed from the chasm of unending sin to not only seek forgiveness for their crimes, but also sought to end the villainy of the same people who almost devoured mankind’s existence. These were the Warriors of Light: Warrior, Mage, Monk, Summoner, Knight, Ninja, many united under that very belief in which a second chance is sacred, as well as the right of many. These very warriors gathered into a formidable army for good and vanquished the villains who would damn our world! And with the death of their master, the villains were defeated, thus our Warriors of Light were triumphant! Unfortunately, Amestris’s creation as a eventual and potential source for evil started taking effect months later, as the people of it’s soil found it uninhabitable due to sudden pits leading to inescapable labyrinths, Alchemic Traps that summon demons from other worlds, and souls who still followed and/or believed in their former masters’ lies. And so the Warriors of Light banded together and created ships for their people, as well as a few from the Ishbalin settlements, the Witch Camps, a few adventurers and unique folks from Twilight Town, and the few surviving Y.O.U.T.H. Children set free from their captors. The ships took them to the neighboring country of Fantasia, home for the Genomes, advanced Chimeras who mastered Magic and aided the Warriors of Light in their battles. From then on, the settlers would try to live together with the Fantasians in their new home, and to this day, it can still be somewhat of a struggle...prejudice and difference issues, the shittiest reasons for bloodstained cement, am I right? Fortunately, today, there are people still sharing their yards and fighting for equal rights...”“Excuse me Professor Fillmore, but we were actually here to learn about what happened AFTER Amestris was abandoned.”A College Professor looked back at a group of students who were following him in a tour through a museum dedicated to Fantasian and Amestrian history.Fillmore sighed and said, “S-sorry, history’s heroes had a bit of an impact on me as a kid, a bit more so than today’s take on heroes.” One of the students spoke out, “HEY, THE C-RADS AND DARKEST KNIGHT ARE THE BEST!” As a few cheered, the professor continued, “(ahem) Anyway, onto forbidden territory, as many of you know, Amestris was closed off, no way in, no way out. Basically a Stonehenge parody the size of a circular country. And that country was now considered a dead zone, nobody from Drachma, Creta, even Aerugo will cross it’s borders. A U-Turn section was constructed simply to drive around the former circle of pure evil, leaving the remains of Amestris to shatter by itself into a million evil pieces. Some say however, the land became a layered and downward ruin of what was during the Warriors’ Era, and the eras of those who settled before them and so-on. Cities beneath Cities, rumored to be visited and/or occupied by the occult and the corrupts, who are STILL...to THIS DAY...seeking the end of days.”One of the students then asked, “So...Amestris is now a hive for Cultists?” Fillmore nodded, “Yes. Fortunately, the bastards there could only hope, because since that day, Alchemy has been handled much more cautiously and safely while the Keyblade has been entrusted only to the few who are worthy. One of the reasons I don’t think we should worry is that MOST of Amestris’s alchemists abandoned Amestris in favor of Fantasia, and nobody knows to this day how to forge their own Keyblade. But who knows...in some way...in some variation...evil might spring up from those depths...and spread in a way none of us expected.”“SHEESH Professor, you’re making it sound like that dead zone is Haunted.” a college student mocked.Elsewhere…In the ruins of Central City, which expanded with the exposed edition of the Underground City, hidden for Dante, and Father’s formerly hidden prisons and chambers, something stirred from the depths. Something with sharp teeth and crimson red eyes started crawling from the pits of the city’s pits…...and howled a single word...“ZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL-!!!”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 1: Something Strange“WATCH WHERE YOU’RE GOING, SORA!”A teenage boy with spiky brown hair bumped hastily into someone while he was hurrying to class. And as he arrived inside the building, he made certain not to drop what he was holding inside a paper bag…He passed his schoolmates and rushed through every stack of stairs he came across, all for the sole purpose of helping a friend with his science experiment…Sora finally arrived atop the ceiling of the building, where a somewhat diminutive blonde boy waited for him. Sora then called out to him, “ED, HEY ED, I GOT THE STUFF!” Ed immediately shushed him and told him, Would you keep it down?! The school board is already suspicious of me! I don’t need them hearing my name near suspicious places too!” Ed then creeped around the metal fences, making sure no one heard or cared about Ed’s name being heard from the rooftop…To Ed’s luck, no one was approaching their location, and so, he cheered quietly and said to Sora, “Alright, let's get to work!” Sora then emptied the bag he was carrying to reveal salt, scraps of metal, several cables and connectors, and what appeared to be two sets of batteries. Ed then explained, “This is it, partner, the moment we’ve been waiting for! Alchemy has been the revolutionary starting point to man’s greatest achievements, and while not all of them were great, I guarantee you, my experiment will bend the rules to our whims!” Sora then said, “Yeah, this was something I couldn’t miss...still...I’ve been talking to Rose and Riku, they wanted to find the right time to tell you-.” Ed then said, “They can Tell Hell, I’M MAKING HISTORY!” Sora however said, “But this infatuation is the reason I’m talking to you...I mean...Ghosts aren’t going to give you what you want. Even Kairi and Lyra are worried and they’ve explained the negatives regarding fiction-based ghosts.”Ed shook his head and said, “I am NOT listening to people who aren’t even here to talk me out of something, let-alone a person I thought I could trust, YET SEEMS TO NOT MIND BEING THE SPEAKERPHONE OF SEVERAL THICK-HEADED COWARDS!” Sora however said, “...Edward...you and Alphonse lost your mom, and I couldn’t be more sorry about that...I even helped you get the ingredients for your project, to support you. I just...don’t know about the results. I mean, it's not just your brother you lost…”“He’s not dead! Why do you assume my Armor-Collecting Sports Champ is dead?!” Ed asked. Sora answered, “W-wait, he’s fine?! I thought he vanished...or that’s what Morty said anyway-.” Ed then said, “Don’t trust Mort, Sora. It MAY be somewhat offensive to hear, but that guy, IN ESSENCE, is a Rat. Creep hit on Winry every chance he had, JUST BECAUSE HE WAS A HONOR STUDENT! Geez!”Ed had just finished using the salt to make a Transmutation Circle when Sora said, “...alright, still though, think about what your experiments cost you before...I mean...you’re...you know Winry can’t always help you, you have to be careful with these risks.” Ed however smiled at Sora and said, “...I have to see her, Sora. Don’t worry though, these parts you got me ain't risking much, Human Transmutation, Alchemy on Humans, that stuff isn’t involved. What we have here...is a way to speak to actual ghosts. The spirits who did not pass beyond, who are stuck in limbo, we’re going to use this little device to speak to the dead, INSTEAD of summoning them. Get it?” Sora nodded and said, “...Alright, as long as no zombies are involved. Besides, if this Spirit-Phone works, we might be making it to the big time! I can see it, dude! Spirits who need help or have a divine request, these spirits could be the beginning of a new adventure, with true-blue heroes dedicated to the needs and assistance to the living AND the dead!” Ed chuckled and said, “You may be a bit lacking, Sora, but honestly, I can see the positives already! Al will EAT his words when he sees what we’ve put together! Now...stand back...it’s Alchemy-Time!”(CLAP)In an instant, Sora watched as Ed used his Alchemy on the Transmutation Circle of salt to mix together what he collected, and crafted-to Edward’s design, the appli-named ‘Spirit-Phone’. While fiddling with the keyboard and tuning the nobs, Edward explained, “Lucky thing I drew up this baby last month. I’ve been designing it’s layout for days, setting up the controls, the functions, the works! And if I can just connect this to the school’s power source-.” Sora however asked, “How about we just test your new toy somewhere that won’t attract too much attention?”Minutes later…“Welcome to Walter Park, where dogs take a crap, the EPA are threatened by unnatural heroes, marshmallows are melted and tossed at lawyers, and where a clan of feet people who worship a shredder of some kind, told a recast news reporter that they would let loose ‘DURR, TWO BIG ANIMALS’.” Sora explained, humorously. Ed then said, “Alright, Paige Turco jokes aside, the power plant here should do just fine. SORA, GIVE ME...THE PLUG!!!” Sora threw it to Ed and said, “Just remember, first sign of trouble, and we shut it down, and pretend it never happened.” Ed sighed and said, “Right-right, I got it. Just make sure you have a ‘divine’ speech prepared just in case I ace this. Better yet, compare me to an Egonian Inventor.”“NEVER! EGON DESERVES GOD-TIER GLORY FOR ETERNITY!” Sora argued. Edward then connected the power cords, plugs, and cables, preparing the Spirit Phone, “Here it goes...the power to speak to the dead is within our grasp.” And with that, Ed activated his machine, and stepped back as the Spirit Phone started letting out sparks! Several of them caught Sora’s eye as they began shaping into unique shapes...even a few symbols that looked familiar. Sora then said, “Hey, Ed, the electricity, it’s starting to change and morph...I think we should shut down the phone, just to be on the safe-. W-WAIT, EDWARD?!”Edward however walked closer to his creation, as if something caught his attention, “...M-...Mom? I-Is that you, Mom?!” In Edward’s eyes, a vision of a humanoid woman appeared before him while in Sora’s eyes, a glowing and growing vortex began to shape over the Spirit Phone, “He’s...hallucinating?! Could it be the batteries? They might’ve been defective, and now, Edward’s possibly being exposed to toxins while that Spirit Phone’s letting loose dangerous electric charges! EDWARD, GET AWAY FROM THERE!!” Sora then rushed to save Ed while trying to cover his mouth and nose to keep him from possibly breathing the assumed toxins from the machine while carefully avoiding electric bolts. “M-Mom…” Edward was starting to draw closer to the vortex, not even noticing the bolts of electricity around him. Sora however was able to reach him, and grab him!(CLENCH)Suddenly, to Sora’s shock, a long, grey arm with yellow nails grabbed Sora! Edward suddenly noticed the creepy arm, and saw it’s skeletal hand grasping Sora’s throat! Regaining his nerves, Edward grabs the arm and tries to force it’s grip off of Sora, but then the arm reaches out to Edward! Since Sora was free, now he had the upper hand, so he hurried to the Spirit Phone to try and disable the Vortex! As Ed tried avoiding the grey arm, Sora said, “Hang on, Ed, I’ll turn this off-!” Just then, something grabbed onto him and pulled him in the Vortex! “SORA!!!” Ed then hurried after Sora by jumping into the Vortex, all the while unintentionally letting a few unknown creatures out!...Sora opened his eyes and found himself floating in a white void of windows and doors, where every view on the inside seemingly revealed alternate worlds and realities...like one where a suit of armor was holding a bleeding Edward, and Sora, as a child, was pulled from a floating island, into a black hole…Sora then noticed that whatever pulled him into the unknown void was a stretchy and boily tongue, coming from one of the floating doors! The moth the tongue was coming from started screeching, desiring to eat it’s latest catch while Sora tried getting free!At that instance, Edward found himself in the same void, and stared in awe at what he saw. “Holy Sh-...I mean, DAMN, this plane of existence is beyond anything I could’ve hoped for! The windows and doorways must lead to more than a trillion spiritual realities, FILLED with ghosts and apparitions I’ve only-...oh right, Sora. HANG ON, I’M COMING YOUR WAY!” Edward then swam in mid-air over to Sora to try and save him.Edward then caught his friend and asked, “How are you holding up?” Sora answered, “Well, getting eaten by a mass of unseen evil can be considered the high-point of my day, IF I WASN’T GOING TO DIE FROM THE STOMACH ACID IN IT’S BOWELS!” Ed then said, “Afraid there isn’t much we can do, weapons don’t seem to cut it on these...things!” Sora then said, “You know what that means, right? These things that build back up from gas after one physical attack, THESE ARE GHOSTS! WE FOUND GHOSTS, EDWARD, AND THIS IS THE AFTERLIFE!” Ed looked around and said, “...the...Afterlife? Th-this...this place...IS THE AFTERLIFE?!!! WOO-HOOOOO!!! I KNEW IT, I KNEW I’D FIND IT!! NOW WE CAN FIND MOM AND PROVE THE SPIRIT PLANE EXISTS IN PHYSICAL FORM!” Sora however argued, “Wait, WHAT?! No Ed, we have to get out of here! This place is STARVING for attention, AND THE METAPHOR IS LITERALLY PULLING ME INTO IT’S ROOM FOR DESSERT!”Ed thought for a second and said, “Well, we’re dealing with an apparitional tongue...so it can taste what it can touch…” Sora then pulled his shoes off and used them to push the tongue away, “Hope that thing likes Leather! Now move!” Sora then grabbed Ed by the back of his coat and pulled him along as they rushed to the open portal they came from…As they ran, Edward noticed a stream of fire pass them. Ed then looked back and to his horror, several portals of flame gathered around them, including one in the center, where a large, bulky, and UGLY canine-like monster was emerging, and drooling out of hunger.Sora however reached the portal back home, but stopped when he noticed Ed was staring at the many flame vortexes surrounding them! Sora then yelled, “Ed, hurry up and get over here! We BOTH know this portal has it’s limits, so our window out of here might not last for long! ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?! I’M SAYING WE NEED TO LEAVE, NOW!” The dog creature however charged at Edward!“EDWARD!!! GET OVER HERE, NOW!!!”Ed then turned towards Sora and ran his way, trying not to think about the hungry creature rushing up from behind! Sora then reached out to him, trying to grab him and throw him back into their home world!“ZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL-!!!”(CHOMP!)“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!” Edward screamed as the monstrosity bit into his leg! Sora however managed to grab Ed’s right hand and pull him! Sora then said, “I got you, don’t worry, I’ll get us out of here-!”(CHOMP!)Suddenly, ANOTHER dog-like monster passed between Ed and Sora…while ripping Ed’s right arm off!Ed screamed out in agony while Sora wasted no time delivering a mighty kick to the monster that still had Ed’s leg in it’s teeth! The kick staggered the dog creature, giving Sora enough time to pull what was left of his poor friend away and carry him out of the portal! The two finally managed to leave the Spirit Phone’s vortex, while they saw the dog creatures approaching their vortex while the fire portals in the dimension they were in started letting out MORE demon dogs! Sora then wasted no time in grabbing the Spirit Phone, and throwing it into the Reservoir, where the vortex started to short out, and let loose a large explosion! As the water rained over any and all surrounding the Reservoir, Sora ran to Ed, who was still in pain after the dog demons made swiss cheese out of him with the loss of his right arm and left leg. Sora used his and Edward’s coats as bandages to cover the bleeding sockets on Ed, who stared in anguish in the sky.Sora then said, “...the Police might have noticed by now. What we did, there’s no way we can cover it up, especially not after you suffered through the discovery. That Ghost Dimension, the Afterlife, whatever that place was, nearly killed us and made us into more spirits among what tried to eat us. We might be cuffed, but to be honest, it’s better to ask for forgiveness than live with-...what these things did to you.”“...you’re…right…” Edward said, struggling to speak. As the sirens were heard from the approaching police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks, Ed continued, “What we did…huge mistake, I know…but Sora, we opened the way…we…let a few out, and thankfully, those dog demons are…still in there, trapped forever. But…we’re responsible…we let the ghosts escape…and I think I know someone who can help us…” Sora then asked, “You know someone who could help with our Ghost problem?” Ed nodded and said, “Y-yeah…she can also help me with what those damn dogs took away from me.”Elsewhere…“DAMN IT WINRY!!! DON’T TURN MY STUFF INTO MATERIALS FOR YOUR CRAP!”“MY ‘CRAP’ GIVES THE DISABLED AND HANDICAPPED HOPE FOR TOMORROW! IF ANYTHING I’M PREVENTING SUICIDE WITH A SUBSTITUTE APENDAGE!” Winry argued. As her roommate pouted out of their room, Winry began drawing up her next project…until her cellphone rang. As Winry picked up her phone, she responded, “Rockbell Automail, if it’s a miss, I got Mecha-Bliss! How may I…E-Ed, hey there, what are you-...w-wait, hold on, Sora, what’s happened to him?!”Back in the Amestrian Ruins, the shadow creatures managed to climb out of the endless chasms from Central City. But as they looked around, someone approached them. It was a strange elderly man in a black suit, a bowler hat, with pointy grey facial hair, like a mustache and a goatee…The elder then asked, “Ah, excellent! My spell to summon the Golems seems to have succeeded, however my new friends, I was hoping that your summoning would shape suitable forms for my purposes, just as it did for your previous generals from the Heartless Empire. Would any of you happen to know where I might find a black dog of humanoid size? Maybe even bear-sized?”At that instance, the dog demons who attacked Edward earlier appeared alongside the Golems, still chewing on something red. The elder then said, “Well-well, looks like the two of you have found a bite to eat, splendid! But for what I have in mind, I’ll need your stomachs empty and hungering for more meat, especially the meat of those who are blind to the Gozarian Following. But before we get started, allow me to introduce myself…I am your new lord and master, the founding father of Gozarian Culture…call me Ivo Shandor, the man who will rule the world.”End of Chapter 1
