It's been another year since I last updated my journal here on DA. I meant to do it on Thanksgiving since the previous one was the 25th of November, but it's better late than never I guess.
Anyway, my year from last November to this one was pretty productive:
1. I went from a beginner to intermediate level at my job. Last year I stated that I had been hired as my first real full-time job as a graphic designer at Wendover Art Group. It's been wonderful so far! A little hectic at times and always busy at approximately 50 hours a week, but I honestly felt that I've grown not only as a designer, but as an artist as well. The team I work with continues to teach and inspire me every day.
2. Jason and I bought a house! Back in April we made the leap from leasing an apartment to purchasing our own home. It all happened so fast and smoothly, I still am amazed we processed everything in time before our next rent renewal at our old place. When we moved in, I ended up painting 10+ walls from an awkward-looking yellow to a minty spring green (Sherman William's Romain to be exact). It looks so much cheerier and fresh.
There's still a lot to be done though. I plan on creating a veggie garden at some point in the back yard, as well as planting shrubbery in the front with some black mulch. I also intend on fixing some pitting in the hardwood, painting the exterior house to an earthy green and stone gray, and hopefully one day replace the driveway/walkway concrete with a painted and treated new one. #goals
3. I also got engaged!
Back in July, Jason and I celebrated our 10th year anniversary together by having a relaxing weekend at Epcot, and then we ate dinner back at the same place where we first met (both of used to work at KFC/Taco Bell). We plan to have our wedding some time next year, which most likely be the same day as our 11th anniversary.
So that was my year so far.
What about you all? What cool things have you accomplished in 2018? I'd like to hear your stories.
If I don't make any more journal updates from now, I wish everyone a happy holidays, and a wonderful new year!
