These days are somekind of fever with that Llama thing... well, dunno if you know, cause I´m near to the altiplano (the place where the Llamas live). This place was on the earth of incas, aymara and a lot of diferent cultures with a lot of storyes and myths. Some guys asked me if there is a Myth wich involved llamas and indeed there is one, a myth of my land... the myth of the Yastai... BTW. did you know the word "llama" in spanish also mean "flame" and also "call"?
Ok, Let´s Wikiattack!
-------------------0------------------
Yastai: it´s going through the hills and ravines of the great north, in more than one of opportunity travelers could find peaceful herds of llamas and guanacos, but few have had the fortune or misfortune, to encounter face to face with the figure of Yastay . This big animal is the protector of the flocks. It is easy to recognize because it looks bigger than everyone else and it. It is the protector spirit of each llama or guanaco; and appears in the most unexpected moments. Yastay protects the poor hunters who hunt for food, and punishes those who hunt without needing it. In some cases it´s able to show its fury against a hunter transformed into a demon, burning him with their eyes as hot as the sun.
No bullet or human force that is able to bring him down. It can also be helpful. Sometimes the Yastay may appear with an angelic face and guide in the desert when it detects the goodness in those who come to his proteges. It´s only can be pacified with a offering of mashing corn.
-------------0--------------
This myth is a bit special to me, cause Im not sure, but I think I saw it when i was a kid... maybe the distance confuse me, I only know i saw a big animal, 3 or two times than the normal llama or guanaco on the horizon, with shine eyes like the sun.
