Manly Cloud by GENZOMAN Manly Cloud by GENZOMAN
HEY! HAPPY THANKSGIVING GUYS!! :D

Again I was talking with that friend I told you a time ago... yeah, the same guy wich dont like Zelda games for how Link looks (My favorite Link is toon link, the one of Oracle games and from Twilight princess)

Here is the link BTW.
[link]

And, well, the chat started pretty well, About the new SF4 and the new characthers and about the new released screens of FFXIII and there he started to complain about the news FF.

Acording to him:
"since FFVII the charas are more feminine , for example, Cloud: Blond, green/bluish eyes, thin and emo, do you know what he needs to be a real hero?MUSCLES, A MANLY BEARD OR MUSTACHES, ASSASSIN EYES, A MORE BIGGER SWORD, HE TRAVEL SO HIS CLOTHS NEEDS TO BE DIRTY, HE FIGHT, SO HIS CLOTHS MUST BE STAINED WITH BLOOD, POUCHES TO CARRY THE MATERIA AND KILL SEPHIROTH WHIT HIS OWN HANDS LIKE A MAN"

me: dude that looks like a nightmare to me. O_o
I love the work of Amano, Yoshida and of course Nomura, I think each one give the best for FF (my favorites: FFV-VI-VII-IX-X-tactics) But let me show you how could look your "manly cloud"
.................

I still preffer the Cloud of the Original FFVII, more than the one of the movie or his later apparitions :p
Hey Square-Enix guys!!! I still waiting for a remake, that game was good, Manly tears when Aeris... well, U now, dont want to spoil the game :p

Just 4 fun and part of "manly series"

Oddly enough, the only thing that irks me in FFVII is the size of Cloud's sword.

It's since a giant sword is impractical and looks silly.

Well, to be fair it only looks impractical because we're used to see it how it would work for normal humans like us.
No normal human would be able to wield it effectively, but the whole point of the weapon is that its meant to be used by these genetically modified super soldiers (Captain America in steroids) which is what they are. It looks impractical, but for them, its not.

Well, in truth, even if one has superhuman strength to the point of somehow being able to lift and swing around a hunk of metal weighing at least 160lbs (if going by it being composed of some form of high carbon steel and factoring in how thick it is), you'd also have to take in factors like the inertia; when swinging around something so large and heavy, the momentum of the swing would send the wielder flying off their feet. Let alone that the whole point behind a blade is that it's thin enough that when sharpened it severs the seams of things like wood or flesh. Sure, a blade as thick as the buster sword's might cause plenty of surface damage, if not just crush every bone in a person's body due to its sheer mass, but it would be a very lousy cutter due to how wide the edge would be.

Let alone how much unnecessary strength the wielder would need to put into just lifting the thing, and how much further strength they'd need to keep the thing balanced during a swing and retaining the additional strength to do damage with said swing. If anything, someone with such potent strength would do better if using a significantly lighter sword, like the standard SOLDIER sword in Final Fantasy VII, since the more strength you can exert into the swing itself without needing to compensate for the mass would make it faster, and therefore deadlier.

Ehhh...not really.
They both liked him romantically, but Aeris's love was based on how much Cloud reminded her of Zack.
But Tifa a friend? What? She was clearly heads-over-heels for Cloud since the beginning, and once Cloud regained his memories its revealed the whole reason he wanted to join SOLDIER was to impress her because he was in love with her too, even before she was. The last scene in the Highwind before going into the Crater has them "reafirm their feelings for each other" romantically.

i love how badass and hillariously overdone in masculinity cloud is in this picture.

will you draw more like this, or more comedic parts?

also yes, i would love it if square enix did a modern re-make of the FF VII and of FF VIII for PS3/PS4.
it would rock so hard!

keep up the good work sir!

Ugh, I'll never get the people that bitch about rpg characters being "too androgynous". "Manly" is overrated. Why can't you kick ass and be attractive as well? Not every hero needs to look like a viking, and as for muscles you can be toned without being bulked. Strength can lie equal parts in skill and technique than brute force; I've seen an little eight year old kid kick a college jock's ass because the kid knew how to fight properly. It's the same kind of people who bitch about female heroes in games. Girls can kick every bit as much ass as men and they don't have to look butch to get there. Slender people are generally more flexible and agile and thus can often nail techniques better so long as they have the balance. For me, it's more about aesthetics; if I'm going to be staring at the same characters for hours, I want them to be pretty characters. All that said though; the drawing's damn good and I love the tattoo.

It really all comes down to a matter of opinion.  While I completely understand why people prefer their video game characters to look like Sora from Kingdom Hearts for example, I honestly believe that these types of characters are too androgynous.  I've always preferred characters like Kratos from God of War and Death from Darksiders 2 for the same reason you like androgynous characters: aesthetics.  When I play a video game, I want the playable character to look like a badass, and I personally don't find skinny, feminine looking dudes badass.  Like I said, it all comes down to a matter of opinion.

I'm not really knocking characters like Kratos and Death - they're awesome. I'm just saying that there's room for both and people can be powerful and intimidating without having to be big and/or scary looking. Basically, I'm saying there's no need to knock either. After all, Bruce Lee wasn't remotely a big guy, but he was still pretty much badass incarnate by most standards.

Late reply but...
you lost me at "why can't you kick ass and be attractive as well?"

attractiveness is a subjective term, what you are attracted to might not be attractive to other people, sorry but androgynous guys are a turn off for me personally, and I *THINK* bishie look is overrated and undesirable, but to each their own.

"Not every hero needs to look like a viking, and as for muscles you can be toned without being bulked. Strength can lie equal parts in skill and technique than brute force; I've seen an little eight year old kid kick a college jock's ass because the kid knew how to fight properly."

I think what you are referring to also has to do with the fact that most of those characters draw their strength from "magic" rather than actual strength, because it looks improbable when a twinky guy long hair over one eye lifts an oversized blade with one arm.

"It's the same kind of people who bitch about female heroes in games. Girls can kick every bit as much ass as men and they don't have to look butch to get there."

Okay besides the awful sweeping generalization you did I'll just point out that there is nothing more fun than watching a femme fatale kick butt. That said, biology did grant men the advantage in the physical department, and that is ok, i love being thrown around by a big man, but he will still need my permission because we are equal.

"Slender people are generally more flexible and agile and thus can often nail techniques better so long as they have the balance."

Fair point but flexibility and agility don't do much when you have to move a giant boulder out of the way

"For me, it's more about aesthetics; if I'm going to be staring at the same characters for hours, I want them to be pretty characters."

Well at least here you clarified that this is simply your taste, but again I have to counter that character aesthetics are a matter of personal taste and not some global absolute. For example I prefer the really manly men and the really femenine women. That being said i find it boring when every guy and girl in a game is the same. Variety and diversity is the best way to make a cast in a video game in my opinion, something some of those RPG series seem to sometimes skip and just flood it with androgynous guys and magical girls. It's nice to have a bit of everything, because well...EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT! that way I can pick who to focus on

"All that said though; the drawing's damn good and I love the tattoo."

agreed :)

"I think what you are referring to also has to do with the fact that most of those characters draw their strength from "magic" rather than actual strength, because it looks improbable when a twinky guy long hair over one eye lifts an oversized blade with one arm." No, when I said "Strength can lie equal parts in skill and technique than brute force; I've seen a little eight year old kid kick a college jock's ass because the kid knew how to fight properly," I meant that literally. I took martial arts as a teenager and I did see things like that. Kids and girls can fight every bit as well as strong guys and sometimes better. My instructor used to knock the pompous out of new guys that thought they were badasses by having them suit up in two layers of padding and getting one of the young kids to knock the crap out of them. It was an effective attitude adjustment.

"Fair point but flexibility and agility don't do much when you have to move a giant boulder out of the way" - see the above example. It really can do much when people know the technique to put behind that flexibility and agility.

"Variety and diversity is the best way to make a cast in a video game in my opinion" I do agree with this; I just hate when people harp about having the bishies and girls in with the manly men. Personally I think you do need your Zangief's and Zhang Fei's and your Barrett Wallace's to balance out your Cammy White's and Zhao Yu's and Tifa Lockheart's, but without the more effeminate characters too, I really wouldn't be interested. I don't think it's an accident that almost nobody cared about the all-male cast Street Fighter 1 but Street Fighter 2, which introduced Chun Li and Cammy, is the game that made the whole genre become huge.

Hmmmm, if Cloud was like this, then Zack Fair had been still alive. They would have small mercenary office when Sephy decides to drop rocks on the planet. Zack (as a fair guy) decides to let Cloud has his personal vendetta upon Sephy and borrows his sword for Cloud and who then embarks to northern continent by swimming. During that time Zack borrows the rocket from rocket town and shoots out to the meteor with very long rope. He lassos meteor and starts to ride it to other direction, during that time Cloud has pierced Sephiroth with his unbreakable hairpike and chopped off his head as a trophy and grumpily steps outta northern crater. Then he sees Zack riding on meteor and doing goofy stunts with and Cloud looks away grunting silently his only phrase in whole game:

''Show-off''...
