Many things have been happening in my life since my last journal post. It's finally the end of the school year and I only have 2 days left. I will find out Monday or Tuesday if I will have job to go back to in Aug. My outlook does not look good, but we shall see what happens. Everything happens for a reason and I have already been through my 5 stages of grief over my job.
On the bright side, Chris and I have moved into our new home. We do not own it yet but we will one day. We are currently renting it from his parents until we get some stuff straighten out. We love it here. It's so peaceful and lush. We have 2 acres of land and a fresh water lake in the back. I love my new craft room and how this house is sooo much bigger.
As for crafting I have been doing a lot of that. So I wanted to share with you what I have been working on. This is Lady Loki
There is suppose to be cape with shoulder fur but I couldn't find it before we left for Mobicon. (darn moving. It took me 3days to find our silverware) I have found it sense then. If you click on this link you can see the shoulders in production www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… And this is the design that I did to the bottom of one of the cape's front pieces www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… And this is the start of my new wrist guards for the costume www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… I am still working on those today. That photo is from last night.
I have gone through 3 sets of Horns for this costume now.
Version 1.0 www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… Which was to bulky and never set right on my head. (bondo and foam)
Version 2.0 www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… and www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… Which was too heavy and gave me a huge head ache when I wore them (Pvc pile, bondo, and metal exausth clamps for the base)
Version 3.0 www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… My final version. That is soo comfortable to wear. I forget they are there and have gotten snagged by a low hanging branch. (2inch headband, felt, wire, cotton, gold paint, and a ton of clear gel to coat it with.
I have also started working on my Princess Luna costume from My Little pony: Friendship is Magic. My costuming guild is planning on doing a group costuming on this one. I made my tail first: www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… and then my horn. Then I set about making the crown and purple blue hair to go around the horn. www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… I need to take a final photo of that but I have to read quaff the hair cause it got messed up in our suitcase at Mobicon. I also made my wings already but the first version was way way to big www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… so I cut them down to size www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi… I have attached them to the base corset again but they just didn't work right. I was going to wear the whole costume at Mobicon but I didn't realize I didn't finish the skirt fully. So...I will be finishing that after I finish Lady Loki.
Also I now have an easy to wear comfy costume. Every costumer should have one you can throw in a few moments that works for hotter climates or more relaxed nights.
This is the manager from Detroit Metal City. If you haven't seen it here is the trailer for the movie. It is not for young kids! This movie, anime, and manga is made for adults. But not in that way perverts, there is just a lot of profanity, and suggestive things. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k2mo2… I find the series very funny and the movie is toned down from the anime.
I think that is about it for right now. I am going to get back to working on my wrist guards and I post another update when anything happens.
