This chaos is the W’rkncacnter, or at least its avatar. This is the being that forced Pthia to fatally overexert himself, and Austin del Rosario had to descend over two miles to face alone.

Parts of the W’rk’s lower body are made of a few of their recurring thoughts (borrowed from NGE’s “Angel tower”); whether or not these have their own consciousness or are simply more body parts is uncertain. Embedded in their chest is the gem that anchors their avatar to the physical world; despite its incongruous beauty, it’s radioactive and will swiftly kill anyone who tries to pick it up without the proper tools.
