Literature Text

The night I saw an Angel
She was curled up on the floor
Crying silver tears of pain
Like I’ve never seen before

I barely dared to go near her
Afraid of what she may do
For me, just poor mortal
And her, a beauty too

I sucked up my courage and took three steps
Into my garden shed
Though I tried not to make a sound
She still raised up her head

And looked at me with those pleading eyes
Filled with pain and regret
The sight of her huddled there
Is one I won’t forget

Now what do you say to an Angel
Who is crying before your eyes?
Now what is wrong my Angel
Can you not take into the skies?

She shook her head so gracefully
A tear falling from her eye
“Until I find what I’m looking for
I can no longer fly”

I kneeled close to her and whispered
What do you need to find?
Is it something I can help with
Or am I just too blind?

She looked at me with her beautiful eyes
A sad smile on her face
“I need someone who can show me love
Because I’ve fallen down from grace”

I led her outside to the moonlight
So she could see the sky
And I kissed her lips that evening
I could see no reason why

Love is something you don’t expect
Especially for an Angel
But I’ll never forget her perfect smile
Her hair, her lips, her smell

She’s my angel
She’s the one that I found
Though I don’t know if I’ll see her again
I’ll never forget the sound
Of her crying sob
And the little words that she whispered
“I’ll be there for you
When you need to be heard”
We all want love
And yet to be cared for
And heard
