Momocon 2018 is in the history books! It was my first time attending and being in the Artist Alley there, and although I always dread the run-up to a con, I enjoyed taking part in it very much. There was great people watching, and many of them came by my table as well, giving me the opportunity to meet new fans and reconnect with previous ones.
did amazingly well on his debut. For as popular a game as The Witcher 3 is, I'm surprised there's so little fan art for it in Artist Alleys. I'm happy that I could provide some small service to the games' and universe's fans, at least. A lot of people who picked up the print also didn't realize that Geralt's voice actor, Doug Cockle, was a guest at Momocon this year until I mentioned it. I hope everyone who was interested in meeting him was able to. If you would like a print of my Geralt for yourself, I am sold out at the moment! But I am looking into offering a pre-order at convention pricing as well as possibly making him into a wall scroll. Keep an eye out for an announcement on that in the near future.
Speaking of Doug Cockle, I even managed to catch his Q&A panel Thursday night. It's pretty rare for me to be able to actually make any of the events I'm interested in if I'm working at a con, so I jumped at the chance. He talked about the craft of acting and fielded a lot of questions about The Witcher too. All in all, it was a fascinating hour and I got the impression that he was a very genuine, friendly guy. BTW, he picked Triss over Yennefer, haha. (So did I.) He also had a signing session every day, which I went to the last day. It was so worth it! He really was as nice in person as he seemed at the panel. I am so shy when it comes to meeting celebrities especially so I was very nervous when it was my turn, but he was so easy to talk to. He also took his time with each person who came to see him. There was no rush at all, and it was truly a wonderful experience. He signed my print and I got a photo with him too!
I don't have any more conventions planned for this year right now. I'm taking a bit of a sabbatical to try to work on improving my art more. So I'm not sure when and where exactly I'll be in an Artist Alley again, but I will return to them for sure. In the meantime, I will of course keep posting online!
