April, 2012: I remained in Illinois for 4 years and was suddenly aware that my health would no longer allow me to tolerate the mid-west climate.  I had to return to western warm and dry.  So I downsized considerably, put a few things in storage and loaded my car to the roof.  I left Illinois on April 15 and arrived in Quartzsite, AZ on the 18th to live in senior housing.  The Arizona climate is better for me, but it's too costly to live here.  I will be returning to Palm Springs in 2013.  There I can procure low-income housing.

Two years ago, 2008, I had lived in California for 23 years.  The San Jacinto mountain range felt like home to me.  In February that year, I was diagnosed with Lymphoma.  I came back to my home state of Illinois to be closer to family.  I miss California, but not the desert heat!  Winters here are not as severe as I remember them from my childhood.  There's more ice than snow in central Illinois.  Maybe someday, finances permitting, I'll return to California for a visit.  Meanwhile, I'll continue deviations and customizations when my health allows.  Hope you all enjoy my creations.  ;)
