Well, where do I begin?? There are sooooo many good Nuzlockes all over Devaintart, I don't even know which one is my ultimate fav!
Odd Ones by Yami, Kynim's Diamond Nuzlocke (the first nuzlocke I have ever read), Krisantyne's First Summer (the one that got me hyped for Nuzlockes), Petty's 2 Nuzlockes, Protocol's X Nuzlocke, Jadethestone's Liberty, Froodals' White Nuzlocke, Odd Penguin's Black Nuzlocke, Em's Folded... Not to mention Skyward Yellow Nuzlocke by... oh, that's yours.
There's so many more to mention that I'm a criminal for not mentioning them all >.<
I have never been able to get through Kynim's Diamond, maybe because I love Myths of Unova too much to go back to it XD I'm gonna try to read it at some point though
I really need to read Odd Ones, Protocol's, and Froodals. Those are pretty well-known, and I'm ashamed I haven't gotten to them yet. First Summer is good, everyone loves Petty, Folded is amazeballs....yeah, this is a great list you've got
thank you :3
I'm hoping to make a recommendations list soon, to share some of my favorites from each genre. There are some good ones that people should really check out!
There are other not so well known Nuzlockes that I adore as well, you know? Those Nuzlockes that focus on what needs to be done and not so much on making their work look as pretty as possible (because honestly, plenty of artists can do that pretty well...)
True, I should probably make a recommendations list myself!^^ (Genres? Like what do you mean by that?)
You should!!! Seriously, if you haven't read it, you should. It's one of the most well-known ones, and it deserves it. The art style is adorable, the characters are super awesome and fun, and I really enjoy all the lore for the world.
Yeah, I know what you mean! Like, there are really good popular ones, but there are also amazing Nuzlockes that fly under the radar and don't get noticed. It's sad
By genre, I mean categories like comedy, drama, horror, etc. The genres are a bit looser for Nuzlockes than they would be for books, since they all follow a similar pattern, but there are definitely distinctions between the types of stories.
For example, I would classify your Nuzlocke (at least as it is right now) as comedy. Something like Skyward would be adventure or maybe drama.
I also decided to give Artisan72's nuz read and man, that one's really well done indeed. The general tone, while it's different, reminds me of It's a hard life (Qlockwork) and Child's Game (By ClassyWurmple, I'm not sure if that one's being updated anymore though). I don't generally read darker ones but those are really unique. There's so much emotion in them.
Yours is really well done too when it comes to feels. o/ Bringing down the sky (by RocCenere) is really cool and has lots of potential. Also from the more lighthearted side, Routes of Kanto (by DoktorGilda), Time on My Side (by ChineseViking), Silver Linings and Truth or Dare (by Eritia-Coli) are great~ Just to mention a few that haven't been mentioned already.
Yeah, it does have a bit of a Child's Game feel, doesn't it? (I think that one got cancelled but i'm not positive...it's been a long time since it updated...)
Bringing Down the Sky is on my to-read list. I started Routes of Kanto but don't remember how far I got. I've read at least some of Time on My Side, though I believe it's cancelled now. I follow Silver Linings. I really should read Truth or Dare, because it got a few nominations this year.
Thanks for the suggestions!! They seem like great ones
It really does need more love. I'll have to actually comment my thoughts- it's a concept I haven't seen applied to visual (comic) media so it was really neat to experience.
Yay, I'm happy to nail a couple that you haven't heard of. I'm pretty proud of the achievement XD Let me know what you think of them when you get the time to read em!
I have yet to read the complete original nuzlocke(s). Shame on me. But no, I can't imagine it at all- it must be cool (understatement) to contribute to a community on the whole that way. And then I think how many hours I've spent on nuzlockes (playing, reading, plotting) and I rethink my life choices XD But it's been fun for sure.
To be totally honest with you, I don't like the original Nuzlocke comic much. It's fine, but it doesn't do much for me. To be fair, I can be picky about humor. I really like the character stuff with Charizard in the FireRed comic, but other than that, it's not my fave XD
Lol, I have spent so much time on Nuzlocke stuff, it's insane. I don't play "normal" Pokemon anymore XD
I really need to read more. I just start to get some of them confused after awhile so I try to keep my watch-list short D:
Uhh, of the ones I actively follow, probably Folded for being the most adorable and generally not breaking my heart (which kind of doesn't make sense, because isn't that part of the point of a Nuzlocke? To be overcome by the feels?)
I don't really like dark stuff, or things that are constantly sad, but I like all the other genres XD Which probably doesn't help you much... I really like getting attached to characters, but I'd also like to see more comics that have more original plot-lines.
Umm, can we please talk about how artisan72's comic is perhaps the most underrated Nuzlocke of all time? Like, seriously, how are more people NOT reading and talking about that comic?! It blows my mind every time
I know right? Too many good ones to pick just one favorite.
And uh, YEAH YOURS. You weave a good story man.
I'm all about talking about that, dude! It's so well crafted, the art has improved SO MUCH since the early days, and ohmygod the premise is so original. I don't understand why it's not more popular. It got nominated for some stuff (not sure if it won though) so at least there's something lol. But I 1000% agree with you, it deserves WAAAAY more recognition.
And duh! I can't wait. One of my favorite nuzlockes get a sequel? Hell YEAH I'm all over that lol!
