I really like the rain dripping down from Gary and Skye. The gray, dismal weather sets the tone for a sad back story. The detail on the bark of the tree looks great too!

I find it interesting that Skye had the eevee doll and Gary had the pikachu doll. You've been planning this all along, have you? Ever since when Skye notes that she had always wanted an eevee and Gary a pikachu on the first page.

It looks like Skye continually putting down and pushing away her friend has completely distanced them. At the beginning of her journey, Skye shrugs off Gary's attitude, but through her journey she has finally accepted that she was the one who caused him to be so aggressive. From the way she treats her pokemon, I can see that people really do change.

I love comments like this. Thank so much for taking the time to write this out :) Nothing in the world makes my inner author happier than seeing people talk about my stories in detail like this.

Yes, I planned the Eevee/Pikachu thing all along. What gets me passionate and excited about telling my stories more than anything else is finding parallels/reverse parallels between my characters. In a way, Skye and Gary getting the Pokemon that the other person wanted was sort of like being forced to see the other person's side of the story, but also a reminder of how different they were than they used to be and that their journey wasn't what they dreamed it would be as little kids. Gary's bitterness toward Skye made him want his Pokemon first so badly that he ended up losing what he himself wanted, and Skye, though she no longer had control over it, was forced to take Gary's last chance at satisfaction or happiness. But, I digress, you get the point :XD:

If I could go back, I would've worked this backstory into their character even more, because I feel like the way Skye's past affected how she relates to her team wasn't always completely accurate or at least not fleshed out enough, but what's done is done, and I'm glad you've noticed that connection :)

No problem. :) It makes me happy that you're happy! I kind of have a habit of analyzing stories I read.

That explains a lot about their characters. Thanks! I guess in a way, they lost the last fragment of their childhood innocence and dreams when they got the opposite pokemon from what they wanted. It was the final break from childhood that completed Gary's transformation.
