Happy New Year!Evening all! I'm just quickly popping in to wish you all a very happy New Year!
Thank you so much for your continuing support over the last twelve months. It's been a relatively quiet year for me on here but every time I pop back it's always as if I've never been away. To those of you who follow me for my illustrations, those of you who follow me for my graphics, those of you who follow me for my resources, those of you who follow me for my pixels, those of you who have been following me for years, those of you who have only just found me, those of you who comment regularly, those of you who prefer to keep quiet, those of you who casually pop in and out, and those of you who have just accidentally stumbled onto this page: THANK YOU
May 2018 bring you all happiness and art-based joy!
All the best guys,
Gallery CSS Information and UpdatesHi all,
You may remember I was talking recently about updating my gallery CSS to fix the current bugs. I've started taking a look at them and have realised that with the new gallery system it is impossible to exactly replicate the original designs. A lot of the skins employed images borders and title boxes that can no longer be styled in the same way. I have therefore decided to only update the designs that I think will still work well and will focus instead on creating new skins.
Some of you might be a little disappointed by this but all the designs do still currently work (with only the thumb styling unsupported) and will remain available to download. Only the four earliest skins have been retired and the newer four have been or will shortly be updated. Below you can find the status of each skin.
Once I have updated the two pending skins I'll concentrate on making some new designs for you guys. I won't strictly be taking requests but if there's anything you'd like to see design-wise
Merry Christmas Everyone!Hello to you all on this magical Christmas Eve! I'm just popping in before I settle down to watch The Muppets Christmas Carol to wish you all a very merry Christmas.
The traditional Christmas in my house involves eating a shedload of Roses and Quality Street, playing rummy for loose change (which I often lose), uncontrollable laughter at the dinner table and family members strewn about the living room in various states of sleep. However you'll be celebrating tomorrow, I hope it's a good one!
With all my love, and as Shakin' Stevens once sang:
It's the season
For love and understanding
Merry Christmas everyone!
Thank You, Anonymous Deviant!I just want to say a huge 'thank you' to the anonymous deviant who gifted me Core membership last night. I hope you see this message as I want you to know that I truly appreciate your kindness. Thank you very much my lovely! x
Broken Skins + CSSEDIT: You may have noticed this didn't go exactly as planned... My week off ended up being far busier than expected so I'm now planning to have these updates done sometime in January. Apologies for the delay and for any inconvenience caused.
I'm aware that a lot of my CSS codes, gallery skins and journal skins are broken again because of continuing updates to deviantART. I have a week off coming up at the end of the month so I'm going to go ahead and try to fix them all. Hopefully I'll get chance to make a few new ones too.
If there's anything in particular CSS-wise you'd like to see from me, just let me know in the comments.
Cheers all x
Group Requests and Advice / 10 Years on dAHi m'dears!
Once again I've spontaneously popped out of obscurity to come and say Hi. 80% of my journals recently seem to be just me explaining why I disappeared for a while. I'm not going to bother with all that this time other than to say the last five months have been absolutely horrendous. All that's over with now so it's time to get back to what I love most - art!
I got an e-mail last week saying that I'd been on dA now for 10 years. That's more or less an entire third of my life which is such a strange thing to think about. Although I always know how much I love dA and how much of an impact it's had it's still weird to think about that in terms of time. Like, I've had an entire decade of dA shenanigans. There has been so much shenaniganing in that time.
Earlier, I took a look around dA, investigated some parts of my account I rarely look at, and realised that I was a member of so many groups that are now

Art and Its Value (Why You Are Amazing)We all know that our artwork has value. We know this of our time, our experience, our talent. It is not unreasonable to expect something in return for the things we have provided. Trading items, paying for goods - these are things we understand and encounter on a daily basis. We pay £2 for a cup of coffee knowing that we're paying for the ingredients, the time and training of the staff providing it and the cost of the rent of the lovely little cafe we'll sit in to enjoy it. It's not just a single thing we're paying for and the same goes for art.
When we commission someone we expect that their prices will include perhaps a small percentage of the cost of buying software required to complete it, a token amount towards the artist's electric bill for running their computer, those mundane and yet important things we might not always think of. We should expect, and rightly so, to pay for more than the end result. Sketches take time, revisions take time and if you're not already then you
Can I draw Anime/Cartoons well? This question is always being asked on DeviantART--mostly by young, aspiring artists who really think they want to become a great, professional anime/manga/cartoon artist when they get "good enough".
The matter of the fact is that, no matter how much you try to be good at a style, regardless of how much you practice and how often you draw it--it'll never look right.
you study realistic form and proportion first.
Learn how the human body really looks and really works before you try to stylize it.
The best way to do this is to find out if there are any Figure Study classes being held in your town or city. A lot of places will have these sessions where anyone can come in at a certain time and draw nude models that will sit and pose for any artist who attends. These are perfect for learning the realistic human form. As long as you draw them as you see them and try to figure out why things are the way they are.
In short, figure studies are how artists dissect a human being wit

Colourful Cats and Delightful DogsI was cleaning up my favourites folder recently and was pleasantly surprised as to how many pictures of cats and dogs I have collected over the past few months. So I thought I'd put a news article together with some of them so I can share the cuteness with you all.
These are mainly photos, however there is some tradtitional art mixed in. Some of these have been popular, some have not; but all have been uploaded to deviantArt with love and affection of the animals we call friends.
These artists have NOT asked to be featured, so please help by commenting, faving or watching to make this a pleasant surprise for them! If you are one of the artists featured here, please the article to help yourself get seen. (If you don't know how to fav the article, here's a tutorial (Thank you Loriele for uploading this quick guide!) http://loriele.deviantart.com/art/A-Quick-Guide-to-Features-164875305 )
Long Exposure TutorialThis tutorial is for everyone who loves the magic of night photography, surreal effects, use of lights, and long exposures even at daylight! Or just for everyone who wants to try this section of photography. I used some of my own pictures as examples for the topics I am talking about. Every picture has the EXIF/camera data, so you can see how I took this photo!
Photography at night
The easiest way and also the cheapest to get long exposures is to take photos at night. The whole photography is a triangle: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_fxbalKKB9mw/ScJbsMEPLLI/AAAAAAAAAlo/fV7m4syiOvw/s320/Exposure+Triangle.gif To get the right exposure, shutter speed, aperture and ISO are the main parts. If you have less light, open the aperture and ISO and shutter speed are constant. If you use a higher ISO you can keep your shutter speed and your aperture, and if you use a slower shutter speed (longer exposures) you can keep the ISO and the aperture! And this is what we need for night photography!
