Happy New Year!

Sun Dec 31, 2017, 2:53 PM
Evening all! I'm just quickly popping in to wish you all a very happy New Year!

Thank you so much for your continuing support over the last twelve months. It's been a relatively quiet year for me on here but every time I pop back it's always as if I've never been away. To those of you who follow me for my illustrations, those of you who follow me for my graphics, those of you who follow me for my resources, those of you who follow me for my pixels, those of you who have been following me for years, those of you who have only just found me, those of you who comment regularly, those of you who prefer to keep quiet, those of you who casually pop in and out, and those of you who have just accidentally stumbled onto this page: THANK YOU Tiny Heart Emoticon by Gasara

May 2018 bring you all happiness and art-based joy!

All the best guys,
Love you Tiny Heart Emoticon by Gasara

Gallery CSS Information and Updates

Fri Dec 29, 2017, 4:48 AM
Hi all,

You may remember I was talking recently about updating my gallery CSS to fix the current bugs. I've started taking a look at them and have realised that with the new gallery system it is impossible to exactly replicate the original designs. A lot of the skins employed images borders and title boxes that can no longer be styled in the same way. I have therefore decided to only update the designs that I think will still work well and will focus instead on creating new skins.

Some of you might be a little disappointed by this but all the designs do still currently work (with only the thumb styling unsupported) and will remain available to download. Only the four earliest skins have been retired and the newer four have been or will shortly be updated. Below you can find the status of each skin.

Once I have updated the two pending skins I'll concentrate on making some new designs for you guys. I won't strictly be taking requests but if there's anything you'd like to see design-wise feel free to comment below.

Thanks guys x

Updated
These skins have been updated and are fully functional.

Dark Nebula 2.0 Gallery CSS by Gasara  Strawberry Sorbet 2.0 Gallery CSS by Gasara  Pure + Night 2.0 Gallery CSS by Gasara  Devious 2.0 Gallery CSS by Gasara

Archived
New versions of these skins are available. These deviation pages only remain to showcase the original designs. They are still usable though some styling may not work. It is recommended that you use the updated versions above.

Dark Nebula 1.0 Gallery CSS (Archived) by Gasara  Strawberry Sorbet 1.0 Gallery CSS (Archived) by Gasara  Pure + Night 1.0 Gallery CSS (Archived) by Gasara  Devious 1.0 Gallery CSS by Gasara

Retired
These skins are still usable but I will no longer be providing support or updates for them. The designs are pretty old and I would prefer to focus on creating new up-to-date designs rather than try to bring these up to standard.

Some styling may no longer work but there are no bugs or unsightly problems.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Sun Dec 24, 2017, 12:49 PM
Hello to you all on this magical Christmas Eve! I'm just popping in before I settle down to watch The Muppets Christmas Carol to wish you all a very merry Christmas.

The traditional Christmas in my house involves eating a shedload of Roses and Quality Street, playing rummy for loose change (which I often lose), uncontrollable laughter at the dinner table and family members strewn about the living room in various states of sleep. However you'll be celebrating tomorrow, I hope it's a good one!

With all my love, and as Shakin' Stevens once sang:

It's the season
For love and understanding
Merry Christmas everyone!

Thank You, Anonymous Deviant!

Sun Dec 24, 2017, 12:08 AM
I just want to say a huge 'thank you' to the anonymous deviant who gifted me Core membership last night. I hope you see this message as I want you to know that I truly appreciate your kindness. Thank you very much my lovely! x

Broken Skins + CSS

Tue Oct 17, 2017, 11:02 AM
EDIT: You may have noticed this didn't go exactly as planned... My week off ended up being far busier than expected so I'm now planning to have these updates done sometime in January. Apologies for the delay and for any inconvenience caused.

Evening,

I'm aware that a lot of my CSS codes, gallery skins and journal skins are broken again because of continuing updates to deviantART. I have a week off coming up at the end of the month so I'm going to go ahead and try to fix them all. Hopefully I'll get chance to make a few new ones too.

If there's anything in particular CSS-wise you'd like to see from me, just let me know in the comments.

Cheers all x

Hi m'dears!

Once again I've spontaneously popped out of obscurity to come and say Hi. 80% of my journals recently seem to be just me explaining why I disappeared for a while. I'm not going to bother with all that this time other than to say the last five months have been absolutely horrendous. All that's over with now so it's time to get back to what I love most - art!

I got an e-mail last week saying that I'd been on dA now for 10 years. That's more or less an entire third of my life which is such a strange thing to think about. Although I always know how much I love dA and how much of an impact it's had it's still weird to think about that in terms of time. Like, I've had an entire decade of dA shenanigans. There has been so much shenaniganing in that time.

Earlier, I took a look around dA, investigated some parts of my account I rarely look at, and realised that I was a member of so many groups that are now either defunct or not as relevant as they used to be. I spent a bit of time going through them and unjoined/unwatched a bunch. Like, a lot. What I've realised now though is that I'm not part of any really active groups. I love that community side of dA and want to get back into it so thought I'd ask you guys for your group suggestions.

If any of you lovely people are members, or indeed admin, of any interesting, active groups please feel free to point them out. Areas of interest in particular include:
- anime/manga style art
- comic art
- space
- digital art
- original characters

If you could offer any suggestions, that'd be a great help. I seem to be brilliant at finding inactive groups... If there's anything else you think I might be interested in, or you just want to showcase, feel free to leave a link too. I'm open to anything really.

Cheers guys. And thank you for being a huge part of my ten-year dA shenaniganing x

Birthday Wishes / Contest Results

Wed Mar 22, 2017, 12:28 PM
Thank you so, so much for all the very lovely birthday wishes! I'm overwhelmed by how many people took the time to leave a message or gift a llama. I'm really touched  - thank you! I'll reply to each and everyone of you shortly x
:iconcocoloveplz:

Thanks, also, to all of you who entered my birthday competition. It really warmed my heart to know how many of you still follow my work enough to be able to answer the question. The half-blind priest from To the Soul is of course my precious Munryeo.

The winner was chosen using a random number generator and that lucky winner is sakonma. Congratulations m'dear! I'll be in touch shortly to arrange sending out your prize.

Once again, big thanks to all of you for making my birthday such an enjoyable and lovely event. Much love to you all xx

Gasara's Birthday Contest

Fri Mar 10, 2017, 11:41 PM
Thank you for all of your entries. The contest is now closed!

Good morning / afternoon / evening!

As some of you may know, my birthday's coming up. As you also may know, I celebrate my birthday like a pro. I normally arrange for some kind of community event to mark the occasion - comment parties, art contests, etc - but this year I've gone for a straightforward competition instead. The bonus this time is that there's exclusive Gasarasrevolution goodies up for grabs!

One lucky winner will receive an exclusive Gasarasrevolution tote bag, Munryeo giclee art print, Rosier photo print, limited edition Jun phone charm and a set of Embrace badges. The tote bag is a one off item and this is also the last chance to get your hands on the much coveted 'Save Me' badges that were produced for Embrace's Secret Festival last summer.

All you have to do is pop over to the competition blog on  my website and answer a very simple question. Submit your answer using the handy form in the blog and you could soon be toting your wares around in Gasarasrevolution loveliness!

International entries are welcome and the winner will be announced on my birthday - Tuesday 21st March. All the rules and information can be found over on my blog so please give them a quick read through before entering. Cheers all, and good luck! x

New Art and New Adventures for 2017

Tue Jan 17, 2017, 5:13 AM
Hello! It's a rather miserable day out today - grey and drizzly and cold - so I'm tucked up next to a heater sorting through my plans for this year. Over the last 18 months I've done a lot of artwork I'm really proud of, I've worked on some amazing things for some amazing people, but I feel now like I really want to get back into doing more personal work. I miss working on To the Soul, I miss my original characters, I miss digital art and I really miss doing things for myself. I suppose that sounds a bit selfish really!

I'm laying out some tentative plans for what I'd like to do this year and most of them involve going back to my original works and bringing them to life in some form. I'm already working on two projects which I'm pretty excited about.

The first is a collection of short stories and vignettes from my various original works with a working title of Fragments. These stories will be little insights into the characters and world of Gasarasrevolution, just little bits and pieces that wouldn't be in the original comics/books. I've always loved writing and thought this would be a nice way to share more about Masa and Jun and Elonis and all the bros.

The second is WIRES, a quarterly magazine featuring new and exclusive art, short stories, step-by-step pieces, articles and maybe a tutorial or two. I'd really like it to be a bit of a present to the people who follow my art and enjoy the characters so it'll contain exclusive gifts and discount codes for my shop and things. It'd be lovely to get you guys involved somehow, maybe with art submissions or a Q&A type article. This is the kind of stuff I grew up with and I miss paper format things! There's a lot of nostalgia involved in this one.

I know it's really been a long time since I regularly shared art for my original works so I understand that there's not as much excitement for them as there once was but I really hope that you still might enjoy these things.

I'd also like to just take a moment to say that I've always been quite an uppy-downy person and in the last couple of years have had some amazing highs but the lows also got progressively worse. I've had extended periods of unhappiness and struggle but it finally feels like that's lifting a little and I'm feeling positive about things for a change. It's always amazed me how much support I've had here and it truly means a lot to me that after absences from the site or a change in styles or themes or whatever you guys are still here. So thank you for that. It means the world.

I'm looking forward to this year and the art adventure that awaits. And I wish you all the best for 2017 too!

Love you xx

Happy New Year

Sat Dec 31, 2016, 9:40 AM
Hello my lovelies!

I just want to wish you all a very happy new year. I hope 2017 brings you joy and happiness.

Thanks for all of the +favs, +watches, comments, llama and cake this year. It's been such a pleasure to once again spend time on dA with you all. Next year is looking to be very exciting and I hope you'll continue to join my on this art-based adventure.

I leave 2016 with my watcher count just tipping over 30,000 and my pageviews hitting the massive figure of 1,000,000. One million plus pageviews and over thirty thousand watchers. I can barely comprehend that. Thank you all who've stopped by and all who have stuck around.

Here's to 2017 - may it be filled with love, happiness and many art-based shenanigans!

Love you all :iconcocoloveplz:

Congratulations Shining-Scribe!

I was incredibly moved by this piece and its gentle way of encouraging us not to forget the past even when we find our memories painful. Absolutely beautiful writing ♥

Shining-Scribe, I'll contact you about the one month sub shortly. Congrats again!

Thanks to those of you who took part and huge apologies for the ridiculous amount of time it's taken me to announce a winner. This also marks the end of the final monthly contest so thank you to everyone who has taken part in the various contests. It was a pleasure to see all your incredible submissions x

Information

The primary purpose of these contests is to have art-based fun. While there is obviously that element of competition there, the idea is to enjoy the process of creating your art rather than worrying about winning. It's not about perfection, it's not about skill, it's about doing. You have an entire month to enter, during which you can spend as much or as little time on your piece as you like. I only ask that you put effort into you work as this will be partly how I judge the entries.

How to Enter

All you have to do is create a piece of art based on the theme of history. This is quite an open theme that you may interpret however you like. Perhaps you wish to draw a portrait of a historical figure, create an illustration based on a different period in time, knit a dinosaur..! There's quite a lot of scope for this one.

You can create any kind of art you like - drawings, pixels, literature, skins, anything at all.

Your art must be created and uploaded during the duration of the contest. Art submitted before the first day or after the last day of the month will not be counted. Please write in the comments that the artwork has been drawn for this contest. (I only ask this as it seems some people have been submitting pieces from their gallery that fit the theme rather than drawing something new - which is the point of these contests. Adding that info in your description just makes it easily apparent that your piece is eligible. Thanks.)

Your art must be submitted by no later than midnight Wednesday 30th November (UK time).

Leave a link to your entry in the comments here and I'll add it to the contest gallery.

And, as ever, if you have any questions just get in touch. Good luck, m'dears!

The lucky winner will receive:

It's a Long Story by SlytherclawPadawan
HISTORY OF SLAVIC PEOPLEI would like to tell You about the people living in the times when most of the tribes still was living from hunting and collecting only. More exactly about
territories of eastern Europe under the Baltic sea,Those intelligent people learned to listen to the Nature and they figured out when to plant the crops and vegetables, much earlier than people to the west or north.
We don't realize how crucial this was for the way of living, because to be able to do so, they actually figured out a calendar at least 3 000 years ago already well in use! And it had only 6 h difference, but let's not forget that the calendar we use now have issues as well, and that was just another way of solving the problem of not equal mount of days in month…

This calendar was built out of points symbolising days forming together cross with all the arms equally long. It was working  in periods of 21 years, exactly like cycles of Nature. Nowadays only wine connoisseurs know about it,

All you have to do is create a piece of art based on the theme of Halloween. Because it is October! I'm not a fan of scary or spooky things but I do have a fondness for Halloween. The colours, the time of year, it can be as cozy as it is creepy! Perhaps you'll reflect that feeling in your creations, or perhaps you'll stick to the traditional theme and create something terrifying! But perhaps not too terrifying..!

You can create any kind of art you like - drawings, pixels, literature, skins, anything at all.

Happy Anniversary!

Thu Aug 25, 2016, 11:22 AM
Ah, I got an e-mail today reminding me that it's my 9 year anniversary here on dA!

It's strange to think that I've been on here that long. And this'll probably sound a bit... y'know... but I really have sort of grown up with dA, and it's quite staggering what an impact it's had on my artwork and my life. A lot of you guys have been with me from day one, and that means more than you'll ever know (although I do try to tell you often!), and some of you have only just arrived here and it's really great to meet you all. It's always been the community spirit that's made me really love dA and even after all these years that hasn't changed. Even when I didn't use the site for awhile I still found my way back and started chatting away to people as though it had only been two hours rather than two years...! It's just that kind of place.

So, again, on this anniversary I'd like to say a huge thanks to all of you guys who've shared this journey with me. Here's to another 9 years!

Love you x

All you have to do is create a piece of art based on the theme of Lyrics. Music is very important to me and I find lyrics are often a great source of inspiration. You can interpret the theme however you like, whether you draw a literal representation of your favourite lyrics or something more abstract based on how those lyrics make you feel. Typography pieces would be really interesting to see for this theme too!

You can create any kind of art you like - drawings, pixels, literature, skins, anything at all.

[EDIT 2] It's finally done! :faint: Having a delicious Lemsip now and then going for a lie down... #flu As ever, any problems/questions, just let me know!

[EDIT 1] Day two of this update. Progress is a little slow as I'm currently battling the flu but it's about half done now so should hopefully be finished today. Also, flu's annoying!

As the title of this journal entry suggests, today shall be spent updating the entries in my deviantART Customisation FAQ. I've noticed that a few bits of information need amending and it also occurred to me that the screenshots were taken from the old layout which is now extremely outdated, especially all of the instances where it says Premium membership instead of Core membership. Things like that are probably fine for those of us who've been here a while but the newer members who are likely to need this information will probably find that a bit confusing...!

So, yes, today I'll redo all the screenshots, update the information that needs updating and maybe add a little more detail to the more involved topics. If there's anything else you think I should maybe do just leave a comment below.

While the work is going on today you might find that some of the entries are momentarily unavailable or not quite right so apologies in advance for that. I'll try to keep the disruption to a minimum.

I'll leave a list below of the entries that have been updated as I go for those of you who might want to see what's changed.

Have a great day guys!

Thank you so much for the support!

Wed Jun 22, 2016, 11:39 PM
Hello my lovelies!

I've just noticed that I've recently gone over 28,000 watchers! That's a pretty mind-boggling number. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm fully aware that the vast majority are going to be inactive accounts and people who just forgot to unfollow me but it's still amazing, and incredibly humbling, to know that over the years that many people deemed me worthy of a watch at some point.

I've posted many things on dA during my time here and gone through periods where I've been more known for illustrations or Flash games or pixel art or resources... But through every period the one constant has been the generous and kind support the people of dA have given me. Not everyone has stuck with me through all those different periods, and that's fine and fully understandable, and some of you guys have literally just started watching me today but my appreciation for each and every one of you who at some point clicked that little +watch button will never waver. So thank you. It really has, and does, and always will mean the world to me.

Thank you guys x

Gallery CSS Guide

Introduction

Customising your deviantART gallery allows you to display your artwork in a way that suits your own individual tastes and style. The right gallery design can also help to enhance the appearance of your artwork. There are a number of premade gallery skins available on dA already but if you're looking to create your own but aren't quite sure how then this guide is here to help you.

The information below can be used as a quick reference sheet to help you isolate and style individual aspects of your deviantART gallery. This guide is intended for people of all skill levels but if you're new to CSS then you might like to use this information in conjunction with my CSS guide for beginners. Help with installing gallery skins can be found in my deviantART Customisation FAQ.

Below you will find CSS selectors for the major aspects of gallery design along with examples of how they can be used. All you need to do is copy/paste the code and replace the sample text with your own content. Along with the quick references I've also provided a list of useful links in case you wish to do some further reading.

As always, if you have any questions or problems just let me know.
