How to Write Helpful Critiques/ FeedbackNow that I have been looking at several literature pieces a week, there aren't a whole lot of comments that provide the writers with feedback. So here's a guide that I thought might be useful for some people on how to provide helpful feedback and critiques.
Before I begin, I would like to say that I have been a part of a wonderful writing group for the past four years. The writing club is where I first learned how to do a critique. I have also been taught some critique techniques during my college studies. In addition to the writing club and college classes, I have been doing my best to leave helpful feedback and critiques here on deviantART. This guide is based entirely off of my personal experience. As I think of more tips, I will be editing this guide.
Make sure to respond to any questions they have asked in the artist's descriptions.
Be sure to find out how experienced they are a
Tuesday Tips: Water ColorsAnyone who has tried to use water colors knows that these paints seem to have a mind of their own. Especially for some one like me who started with Digital Art and solid paints (oils and acrylics anyone?) This can be hard to navigate. So these are some tips that helped me get started in no particular order. Lets begin shall we!
Plan: This applies to anything you do but it more true for watercolors! Like I mentioned water colors seem to have a mind of their own. Moreover, they don't have whites as a way of undoing. So the best way to tackle this is to plan your coloring scheme from before. NO! I don't mean you need to plan every stroke. However, knowing what is the effect you want and how you plan to achieve it can you save you tonnes of agony.
KISS (Keep it simple silly): This comes off the from the previous point. If you keep things simple planning will be a lot more simple. Additionally, most water colors look beautiful without super

The Submit page did not specify that keywords had been changed to tags. Fixed by kemayo
Copying and pasting rich text into the tags entry box on the Submit page did not work. Fixed by szlosek
Pasting space-separated text into the tags entry box on the Submit page would not create a tag per word. Fixed by szlosek
Typing a @ in the middle of a word would erroneously load the username autocomplete menu. Fixed by trezoid
When in Chat, clicking on a link would open that link in the already open window, rather than opening it in a new window or tab. Fixed by trezoid

Beta Launch: TagsPLEASE NOTE: Tags are in limited Beta release and not all Beta Testers have access to this feature at this time.
You’ve been hearing a lot about tags in the past few months, and we’re happy to announce that they’ve just been fully released to Beta Testers.
Tags create landing pages around topics — making it easier to discover related artwork, bringing together artists and art appreciators, and forming communities around common interests. As deviantART grows and creates new ways to discover great content, we believe tags will play an important role in better surfacing artwork.
Tag Your Deviations (and Collections)!
You now have the ability to tag your deviations and Collections. Tags added to your deviations will be publicly viewable -- this is a change from the previous use of keywords, which were private.
Site Navigation, Activity Feeds, Daily DeviationsPLEASE NOTE: These items are in limited Beta release and not all Beta Testers have access to these features at this time.In addition to today’s Tags launch to Beta, we’ve also made updates to the site navigation, Daily Deviations, and Activity Feed.
The More Menu
Previously, the site’s main menu could be found under the arrow drop-down in left corner of any page. We’ve often received feedback that it was too hard to find, and that its contents were overwhelming. In response to feedback from our recent Beta Testing release, we’ve taken the opportunity to re-evaluate how it displays.
The main menu has since been moved to the right of the search bar, and has been placed under a “More” heading, for easier discovery and usage. We’ve removed items that are already duplicated in other menus on the main navigation, so that you can find what y
Introducing the Watch Feed and Status Updates
Connecting you with your watchers.
The Watch Feed creates a sequential stream of activity from your watchlist, including deviations, Journals, Collections, Status Updates, Polls, Forum threads and Critiques. Status Updates let people share quick updates about what they’re working on or what inspires them. Find an awesome deviation? Share it in your Status Update.
As we designed our upcoming Mobile app, we understood the need to build something streamlined and direct to deliver what you want to watch. The Watch Feed was built for smartphones and tablets. While we love the robust tools available in the Message Center — and they’re not going away — the Message Center is not an environment that works well on mobile.

Recent dA changesYou all should be aware (as you can't really miss it) that dA did some changes to the way usernames and symbol appear on the site.
While you can argue if you like the changes or not, there is one thing the skinning community might not like: it messes up the skins that have been created so far again.
Any internal link is now bold by default, so you have to keep that in mind when working on new skins or updating older ones. External ones are not bold, but usually come with an external link image (unless you have image-only links). Take a look at the list below to get to know how to fix these things.
Feel free to use this blog to collect things that "went wrong" or to post your fixes. Right now i am not sure if fixing older skins makes sense, as dA might makes additional changes to the new links.

Removal of the Outgoing Page
Please note: This change was a late addition to last week's Site Update. We're including it again to ensure that people are aware.
We've removed the "Now Leaving deviantART.com" page that previously displayed when clicking a link that navigated to an external site. Outgoing links will still be signified with an outgoing symbol, and, to ensure a safe
Thank You for the Feedback, Improvements ComingThank you, Beta Testers!
We owe you an enormous debt of gratitude. Your input and feedback around our latest Beta releases -- Site Navigation, Activity Feed, and Status Updates -- has been incredibly valuable and because of it, we're able to make significant improvements to those features that will benefit every user of deviantART. We sincerely couldn't do it without you.
The information and data gathered from those Updates will be used to ensure a smooth site-wide launch, and we again thank you for all of your help. As sometimes happens in the Beta process, the Status Updates submitted in our test period need to be deleted to make some of the changes you requested. This will likely take place mid-next week. But, we encourage you to please keep testing, coming up with unique ways to take advantage of these features.
Since Monday, we’ve received over 3,000 comments, nearly 100 bug reports, and extensive feedback regarding these new releases --

Introducing the New Navigation
Explore the full range of DeviantArt.
With better organization and improved structure, our new navigation creates a more streamlined site experience. Features like Today, Undiscovered, and What’s Hot have been given more prominence, while the More menu is now easily accessible with its simplified, new look. The addition of infinite scroll on Daily Deviations allows you to quickly discover even more hand-selected deviations. This all adds up to more control over what you use most and makes it easier to discover great artists and their art.
The More menu, which was previously available next to the DeviantArt logo, has been better organized and moved to a more prominent and convenient location. This change was based on community feedback that its previous placement was hard to find, and its contents overwhelming.
