Is there any way that I could put this on my profile instead? And if so, how do I do so?

Hiya. Yes, this can be used both in journal skins and as a custom menu on profile pages. The help links are in the description but I'll post the main one you'll need here too.

Ah, ok thank you!
Also, I was reading how to edit the code for it and whatnot, but I don't understand how to change the links

You need to find the part of the code in the header section that contains this:

<a class="menu" href="">Link</a>

Each of these sections control one of the links. Simply add the url of the page/site you want to link to between the quotation marks after href= and replace the word link with what you want to link to say.
For example:

<a class="menu" href="http://www.deviantart.com">deviantART</a>

If you want less links in your menu just remove one of these sections. You can add more links by copy/pasting this section too. Hope that helps!

Excuse me, how do I change the actual background ? Like not the background to the buttons themselves but the actual full skin background. Im using this as the directory for my group's page and I cant get the journal background to go behind the buttons.
Welcome

It looks nice but on the actual page of our group it looks out of place.

*update*
My research did me good! xD I've found out how to fix it >w<

I'm not sure if this has been answered, but is there a way to remove some of the padding around the edges of the menu once you've put it on your profile? Like, in the preview after I edited mine, the buttons were nice and long but as soon as I put them onto the featured dev box on my profile, the whole thing just shrinks and looks very awkward because of the huge spaces on all four sides. I know that this is to be expected, since I've used this particular css a lot, but it would be really awesome if that could somehow be fixed!

Im really sorry if this was too long or tedious, if you cant help thats fine xD Ill just somehow research my way there haha

Also, thank you so much for providing these free codes! Its really helped me learn more about css and editing them myself >w<

Is there a way to set the distance between the 'menu' and the 'col' to a specific sice of pixel?(e.g. 4px?)
I've been trying around and just can't seem to find out how :'D

Err... I'm having a problem with it.
I used it here, and as you can see I added 3 images to the top. But when I go on my profile, they won't appear.
I reloaded my page a couple of times, and one time I saw them before the background had loaded, then it got covered up by the background or something when it was loaded.

Is this usable on a profile?
All the nice looking ones require payment which is really annoying because I'm too young to work and I dont want to constantly lend money from my parents

Hiya - yes it is. Just install the skin from the link on the right. If you need help adding it to your profile page then there's links to FAQ entries in the description above.
Haha, I hope this is still considered nice even though it's free!
(I've deliberately kept the styling plain so you can edit it to suit your own tastes :D)

I used your skin to make this Those with Broken Wings
I keep having people asking how I did it. I know you said you don't want people to redistribute the skin, which I figured meant "don't republish it". I have told one person how to do it themselves though. I realized I should ask to make sure that was okay or not. I won't do it again if it's not.

I have a question: I was trying to put some deviation thumbnails above the menu by editing them into the skin code, and they show up just fine in the skin, but when I set it as my featured deviation, for some reason it just doesn't show? I also tried to put the thumbnails below the menu by utilizing the submission description box, but it wasn't even showing up there either. The only way I was able to get the thumbnails to show is by putting the thumbnail code in the content holder box code, along with my other text. Can you help?

The featured deviation box has a limited height when displaying journal skins so it's possible that when you added thumbs to the skin they were cut off upon publishing. Without seeing the code it's difficult to say exactly what the cause was but if you were using a background image and the thumbcodes were put before that then they would have been covered, maybe.

I haven't actually tried using thumbs with my menus so I'm not entirely sure of an answer but I'll have a play around when I get home from work and see if I can figure it out.

Thanks! I messed around a little with it and I found that it's not only thumbnails that didn't show, but everything, including other images and just plain text, unless I actually put the images/thumbs/text in a content holding box. It wouldn't show up ANYWHERE. I also tried this on the custom widget that was below the featured deviation box just to see, and it did the same thing there - wouldn't show any content unless it was actually put inside of a content box. There were some things I wanted in content boxes and some things I wanted in the actual custom widget itself. I don't know if I need to find some "transparent" content box to use so it LOOKS like it's in the main widget in order to work. I thought just typing outside of the content box code would cause it to show up in the main widget, but I guess not.

It sounds like the image codes are perhaps going in the wrong place in the overall code, or maybe there's a div tag missing., as you shouldn't need a content holder to display your content.

Perhaps you could try setting up a new Custom widget to see if you can find out what's going wrong. Copy the code from this link FAQ10 - How do I add a custom background? and paste it into your new custom box. Add your thumbs and text in place of the sample text and see if that works. If not, let me know.
